The Commercial Mortgage Loan Division / Seniors Housing Division specializes in commercial real estate lending on a national basis to offer best-in-class financing solutions for Seniors Housing sponsors. We work with national and regional clients, including developers, investors, owners, operating companies, investment funds, and REITs (real estate investment trusts).

Job Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the preparation of underwriting and approval packages for new loan requests
  • Independently perform extensive financial analysis of historical and pro-forma data, including analyzing property operating and rent roll trends, risk analysis, guarantor/sponsor analysis and market analysis
  • Identify need for supplemental analysis and discussion, anticipating questions that will be raised during deal review and approval meetings
  • Work with Borrowers and Mortgage Bankers in collecting all required underwriting documentation and monitor receipt of information to meet established target dates
  • Participate in proposing appropriate structuring options with deal team
  • Prepare written loan narrative (descriptions of the transaction, collateral, operating trends, market, borrower, sponsor, and guarantor) for credit approval
  • Review and approve appraisals, environmental reports, property condition reports, regulatory compliance, and other necessary third-party reports

  • Work with producers and attorneys on the closing process, primarily as it relates to coordinating of due diligence / checklist information.
  • Coordinate third-party site inspections, and in some cases travel to and complete site inspections independently.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends to identify, assess, and anticipate risks.
  • Work with attorneys and loan officers on the closing process, including loan documentation.
  • Perform asset management duties in relation to the ongoing monitoring of the Seniors Housing portfolio including asset monitoring and completing offerings for extensions and modifications.
  • Perform monthly and / or quarterly asset management duties on the Seniors Housing portfolio, which includes working directly with borrowers to obtain data and resolve issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining reports used to track compliance data including financial statements, census information and licensure information.

Required Experience:

  • At least 5 years (preferably 10) of financial analysis and/or credit underwriting experience
  • Experience in the commercial real estate industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics 
  • ·       Ability to assess risks inherent in credit transactions, then mitigate and underwrite accordingly
  • Skilled in creating and delivering presentations to internal deal team stakeholders and clients
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and business writing skills
  • Strong problem solving, oral and written communication skills
  • Customer-oriented with an emphasis on building relationships
  • Customer-facing acumen to participate in client meetings and negotiations actively and effectively
  • Able to function both independently AND seamlessly within a team
  • Proven ability to deliver fast, high quality product
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time independently for site visits
  • Command of Microsoft Word and Excel
