Actuary - ERM Risk Analytics (Hybrid)

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team is responsible for management, monitoring, reporting and oversight of risk on an enterprise level.
This position, within the ERM Risk Analytics Team, will be responsible for supporting the development and production of key metrics related to risk management. In this role you will work collaboratively with different functional areas of the organization touching on all aspects of investment, market, and capital risk.

The position will require the right mix of technical and communication skills alongside significant interaction and partnership expected with key areas such as inforce projections, valuation, pricing, ALM, investment and financial projections & analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Expand and enhance processes and models for the efficient measurement and monitoring of investment, market, and capital risk
  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate quarterly financial risk results
  • Research, build, and implement advanced analytical techniques to examine and derive risk insights, metrics, and attribution
  • Expand understanding of the company’s financials under different accounting and capital regimes, product mixes, and investment strategies

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical / quantitative discipline such as engineering, math, actuarial science, or a related business field such as finance
  • Knowledge of actuarial modeling and financial engineering techniques in terms of assets, insurance products and investment strategy
  • Knowledge of Statutory and U.S. GAAP accounting regimes / differences
  • Relevant work experience in life or annuity modeling
  • Proficiency in an actuarial software such as PolySystems, AXIS, MG-ALFA, etc.
  • Ability to prepare financial analysis with a high level of attention to detail
  • Exposure to dashboard and Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, PowerBI
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve processes or deliverables
  • Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions
  • Can adjust work priorities and deadlines in response to rapidly changing business priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Insurance Capital Standards (ICS)
  • Exposure to Embedded Value (EV)
  • Understanding of Market-Based Risk Frameworks

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance].
