Fulfillment Center Manager

The FC Manager is responsible for managing high-volume, pick, pack, ship fulfillment center operations for perishable foods.  This role is responsible for managing the planning and execution of weekly order volume, as well as the day-to-day operation of the facility, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, production, quality control, order fulfilment, staffing, employee relations, budget planning, safety, and vendor management.   The FC Manager requires a high level of leadership, strong communication skills, and a passion for providing positive customer experiences. This role reports to our Director, Fulfillment Operations.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Manage production, quality assurance,  order fulfillment, facility issues, and employee relations for the Fulfillment Center
  • Ensure adequate staffing, equipment and space utilization to fulfill production goals
  • Develop detailed facility operations plans and schedules that align with key performance targets, including quality/fulfillment accuracy, customer experience, labor costs, and margin
  • Develop, implement and facilitate processes that focus on achieving measurable improvements to production efficiency, inventory management, quality, fulfillment accuracy and on-time delivery
  • Achieve quality, accuracy, cost and employee engagement targets in an efficient and waste free production
  • Provide positive influence with a strong focus on safety, leadership, problem-solving, teamwork and engagement
  • Manage and develop fulfillment center team members to optimize productivity and promote growth
  • Be instrumental in promoting a positive environment by engaging in real-time, continuous feedback, communication and training
  • Work closely with Food Safety and Quality team to ensure all protocols are followed to ensure the highest possible quality for our customers
  • Maintain knowledge of and manage the operation, proper use, and training of our Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Plan resources to meet growth requirements and seasonality constraints based on corporate strategic plan
  • Establish annual fulfillment operating budget and track/control spending within budget
  • Ensure operational compliance measures including, workplace safety, food safety, and applicable federal, state and local regulations by maintaining the highest operational standards
  • Working closely with both senior leadership and team members, identify areas to continuously improve policy, procedures, practices and training
  • Provide excellent service to all internal and external customers
  • Travel to other fulfillment center locations in the network to offer support as needed

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 8 years of previous supervisory experience in distribution/fulfillment operations; or a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Must be willing to take on a variety of roles within the production facility including hands on work when needed
  • Previous experience working within perishables industry in high-volume fulfillment environment preferred
  • Proficient ability with various business software suites in addition to background utilizing various warehouse management systems
  • Proven ability and desire to train, develop and identify career pathing opportunities for high potential team members
  • Ability to prioritize work against tight timelines, operate with a sense of urgency and perform under pressure
  • Must be a team player, motivator, and must be able to provide coaching and training in a positive and effective manner
  • Dedicated commitment to customer service and fostering a team environment
  • Ability to use data to make informed decisions that align with company goals and overall strategy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in quality control processes and procedures
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and/or various shifts

Physical Job Demands & Work Environment

  • Exposure to warehousing equipment hazards and varying temperatures in fulfillment centers
  • Frequent travel up to 50-75% required
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers while performing the duties of this job
