Job Description


  • Implements supplier quality, and sustainability and supplier development processes where applicable
  • Sets supplier quality requirements to suppliers and products
  • (Leads and (co-))decides on qualification of suppliers based on their competences and competitiveness during qualification audits
  • Drives early supplier engagement in the NPI process, validates and (dis)approves release of components, assemblies and processes at suppliers. Owns the PPAP process.
  • Implements supplier development initiatives and ensures a safe working environment for all people
  • Reports on performance, supports business reviews at suppliers
  • Controls and (dis)approves changes of products and processes at suppliers using industry standard practices.
  • Engages suppliers in the Philips Sustainability Programs such as Hazard Substance Compliancy, Carbon Disclosure, SSD and Conflict Minerals and responsible for their continuous compliance
  • Compiles all data and prepares the rationale/case to ensure complete cost recovery in case of incidents
  • Supports the supplier development team in the identification of savings and responsible for implementation of the identified savings
  • Responsible for all quality related elements in supplier contracts, thus enabling cost of non-quality recovery


  • Works closely with suppliers to prevent quality incidents
  • Accountable for quick but complete resolution of complaints and (dis)approval closure of complaints


  • Effectively implements all relevant supplier quality processes and tools
  • Is able to effectively manage risks with a differentiated approach
  • Can train SQ tools to suppliers
  • Has strong understanding of relevant commodity technology and business domains
  • Is able to determine supplier technical capabilities based on this knowledge and effectively apply knowledge to resolve customer and product(ion) issues
  • Understands sustainability and regulatory requirements and can apply them to ensure continuous compliance
  • Can define and implement improvement programs for suppliers
  • Understands financial implications of solutions and requirements
  • Is able to present ideas with backup data/reasoning that persuades others to support recommended decisions or action and does that with peers but also with senior management internally and at suppliers
  • Brings the right team together and drives knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Can successfully address resistance from suppliers or buyers and speaks up/blocks in case of observed deviations
  • Sets credible SMART goals, balancing quality, costs and speed
  • Supports opinions and decisions with fact analyses
  • Manages quality at regional suppliers in one commodity
  • Works in a changing, medium risk environment with regular change and growth
  • Implements process change as initiated by others
  • Drives resolution of difficult problems (having several root causes) at single suppliers
  • Problem solving requires good knowledge and application of problem solving techniques
  • Supports implementation of waste and efficiency reduction measures at suppliers

Critical Experiences and Skills

Minimum Experience

  • Several years of experience in Quality, Procurement, or Operations management.
  • Several years as a Quality Professional for a regional technology company with knowledge of product and process improvement as well as early supplier engagement activities

Desired experience

  • Auditor qualifications and related experience
  • Good understanding of Quality Tools & modern engineering methods such as PPAP, D/PFMEA, MSA, control plans, SPC, Cpk)
  • Green Belt DMAIC
  • Strong knowledge of problem solving techniques (5xWhy, 8D, Fault tree etc.)
  • Influencing skills: collaborative yet can challenge confidently
  • Acts with a sense of urgency
