Job Description

Your challenge

As a Lighting Application Specialist you will be responsible for the production of lighting proposals for indoor and outdoor applications across the UK&I market segments. You will interpret scope of works and specifications to determine the best approach to each specific scheme, liaise closely with the Key Account Manager to ensure client expectations are known & can be achieved and ensure proposals are compliant with the design parameters, whilst mitigating risk.

Your responsibilities

  • Production of mains and emergency lighting layouts for Indoor Applications such as Offices, Industrial Premises, Educational Buildings, Retail Stores, etc
  • Production of outdoor lighting calculations for Applications such Car Parks, Urban public spaces, Minor Sports Pitches, etc
  • Reviewing scope of works/specifications to understand the performance requirements
  • Communicating with Key Account Managers to provide progress updates, discuss ideas and identify areas for possible innovation
  • Attend site visits and customer meetings where required
  • Update project management database
  • Work closely with fellow Lighting Application Specialists to share best practice and, grow capabilities

We are looking for

To be successful in this role you should be/have:

  • Lighting Design experience working with predominantly LED luminaires
  • Relevant Lighting Industry qualifications (such as ILP/LIA Diploma)
  • Membership to a professional lighting association, such as SLL, LIA or ILP
  • In-depth understanding of UK&I Lighting Standards for Indoor, Outdoor & Emergency Lighting (CIBSE, SLL, BS EN etc), as well as knowledge of CDM, Energy Efficient Building Regulations
  • Experience of producing mains and emergency lighting layouts for Indoor Applications such as Offices, Industrial Premises, Educational Buildings, and Retail Stores etc is essential
  • Knowledge of Lighting Control Systems for Smart Buildings would be beneficial but not mandatory as training can be provided
  • Ability to produce exterior lighting calculations would be beneficial but not mandatory as training can be provided
  • Proficient in the use of Lighting Software such as Dialux and/or Relux, as well as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience of 3D modelling / BIM would be a distinct advantage. As would the ability to train colleagues on software such as Revit
