R&D Development Engineer - Mechanical & Thermal Design

– In charge of mechanical & thermal product design of SSL retrofit lamps/ downlighters

– For some assigned projects, work together with Philips Design to complete the industrial design of product

Mechanical & thermal design:

– Provide 3D, 2D drawings on time with high quality to ensure the project progress and quality

– Owner of mechanical BOM of product, select and define the materials for mechanical/ thermal parts, key contributor for cost effective design

– Build up mechanical/ thermal model for lamp system and perform thermal simulation in order to validate and optimize system design

  • Provide accurate data for lamp design validation and approbation, for lifetime prediction - Write design, measurement and release report.
  • Conduct lamp/ system thermal evaluation in various environments – Participate in the elaboration of application notes.

– Mechanical/ thermal evaluation of lamp/ system and key component in various environments, focusing on safety, reliability and overall performance as to meet product specifications and compliance to standards

  • Mechanical parts and tooling release

– Release mechanical parts and its tooling together with supplier(s) according to procedure

– Define the component specification and release criteria (including process capability requirement), organize trails, and tests, and deliver release report with analysis and conclusion

  • Product release and process release

– For product release, responsible for the mechanical tests of product release, organize and perform mechanical test on time and deliver report with analysis and conclusion

– For process release, co-leading the product assembly process definition and release together with NPI process engineer

  • Mechanical & Thermal competence

– Actively participate and contribute to the Mechanical& Thermal Competence team

– Scout, benchmark and bring new (to us) mechanical/ thermal design technology: materials, processing and solutions, into our product design in order to improve the performance, lower the cost, and realize never-possible features

– Being an active member in the related competence network within Philips to leverage knowledge
