Customs & Forwarding Specialist – Markham, Ontario
You will be providing administrative support to the Transportation & Customs Team.
You are responsible for maintaining/monitoring carrier service levels via ocean, truck, rail, and air, and for providing support to customer service and planning teams in the co-ordination of deliveries for both domestic and international shipments.
You work to ensure that both the Canadian Border Services & US Border Patrol are provided with fully compliant customs declarations for all shipments exported to the US, and around the world.
Provide Administrative support to Transportation & Customs Team.
Prepare Export documentation and coordinate pick-ups with carriers and warehouse.
Track shipments, obtain POD’s (Proof of Delivery), coordinate re-routes, and investigate & resolve carrier/delivery issues.
Liaise with Customs Service, the warehouse, planning and other internal and external parties to coordinate, expedite and track shipments, both international and domestically.
Review daily carrier reports to ensure “on-time” deliveries.
Work with variety of domestic and international carriers, various service levels (LTL (less than truck loan), FTL (Full truck load), and Small Pack) and all modes (Ground, Intermodal, Air, and Ocean). Identify potential delays and follow-up with carriers to resolve.
Work with Suppliers & Carriers to ensure proper import/export documentation is sent to the Brokers to facilitate customs release.
Maintain BOL’s (bill of lading)
Act as Back-Up for both the Transportation Analyst & Sr. Customs & Forwarding Officer
Work to improve departmental efficiencies and streamline procedures.
Strong PC Skills required.
SAP experience preferred.
Customs Specialist Certification, an asset
