The Channel Marketing Manager Consumer (Director level role) and is responsible for setting the overall direction of the Consumer Channel Marketing function and its staff (10 direct reports), which includes three distinct areas: Trade Marketing, Product Marketing and Category Development. Ensures that the annual marketing plan and specific programs are developed and implemented to meet company goals and objectives and directly contribute to delivering PLC’s (Philips Lighting Consumer) sales and profitability targets. Leads these teams to ensure that market, category and pricing strategies are based on customer and consumer insights in order to gain competitive advantage and achieve objectives. Maintains clear lines of communication and coordinates cross functional activities with leaders from Strategic Marketing and Operations and Order Fulfillment. Closely integrates marketing activities with Consumer Sales and Finance. Also works with Retail partners and Agency partners.
Understand the Market
Ensures the entire Consumer Channel Marketing Team understands and works towards the vision, mission and long-term strategic goals for PLC, underpinned by the Philips Corporate Brand Position and Philips Lighting Brand Theme.
Directs the Trade Marketing, Product Marketing and Category Management Teams to analyze and define the market so they can develop accurate plans/forecasts for new products and marketing programs as well as for input to business reviews, AOP and four-year Strategic Plan.
Influences Strategic Marketing’s Consumer Segment Team focus with respect to new product and business concept development by providing input to Opportunity Roadmap creation based on insights gathered from consumers, market trends and competitive intelligence.
Guides the Market Intelligence team in development and execution of annual research requirements/projects.
Leads the development of an annual Marketing Plan and input to the long term Strategic Business Plan based on in-depth market analysis and market research activities and which are consistent with Philips Lighting Brand Theme and Philips Corporate Brand Positioning.
Develops yearly budgets and controls Marketing Plan spending for consistency with approved budgets. Revises spending forecasts as required for financial reporting purposes.
Directs the Channel Marketing Manager to ensure that effective Below-The-Line (BTL) Trade Marketing programs are developed in coordination with MarCom and executed with the Field Sales Team. This encompasses Account-Specific Marketing, Merchandising and Category Management programs that support both current and potential customer and consumer needs.
Works with Director of Brand & Marcom on the creation of effective Above-The-Line (ATL) Brand Marketing and Public Relations initiatives that meet the needs of the Consumer Channel.
Leads the marketing support for introducing new value propositions and pursuit of new business opportunities (retailers) in order for the channel to achieve its business targets.
Owns the pricing strategy for the channel and ensures that pricing recommendations for new products are developed jointly between Channel and Strategic Marketing.
Develop & Manage Associates.
Develops own management and leadership skills by: providing regular coaching and mentoring to direct reports; seeking learning opportunities through the Philips core curriculum or external resources; managing the talent pipeline for the department. Coaching and guidance should be in-line with Philips Corporate Sales and Marketing Competency Model and Philips Leadership Competency Model

- Minimum twelve years work experience in marketing (Durable Goods/Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) organization preferred).
- Experience in a Channel Marketing focused role is required
- Previous work experience in managing outside agencies, such as PR (public relations) or advertising agencies.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills with staff of varied capability levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or marketing related focus/MBA preferred
- Extensive knowledge of marketing mix elements, along with experience in developing and implementing both product- and customer-specific marketing programs.
- Ability to interpret and analyze market research, trends, syndicated data and competitive analysis. Understanding of category management (development) discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills for interaction with Senior Management within Philips and our Strategic Retail partners
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions that impact sales, marketing investments and profitability
- Broad scope experience across business channels and product lines
- Detail-oriented and results-minded
- Energetic, self-starter with ability to lead and motivate large group
- Systems/info technology knowledge is beneficial
