Bots are the new Apps, and with the anticipation that 50 billion devices will be connected to the internet by 2020, the explosion of the Internet of Things will meet the bot trend to unlock revolutionary use cases. From personal assistants to ChatBots and Brand Bots, bots will have significant consumer and commercial application.
As part of the Open Innovation team of Philips Lighting, you will be assisting the technical exploration of startups and integrating their bot solutions to pilot systems and use cases. Your tasks will consist in making an early assessment of the technology, assisting the deployment and taking part in the final evaluation of the solution. Based on the current priorities, your work will focus on either designing assistant bots for internal use to workingn on bot-based marketing campaigns or use case specific chat-bots in one of the four focus areas of Philips Lighting: Transportation, Retail, Smart Buildings and Smart Home.
Based in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the Open Innovation team reports to the CTO of Philips Lighting and is responsible to connect our businesses to the regional innovation ecosystem and develop live pilot projects in strategic areas like IoT transformation, data-driven services and operational excellence.
Throught this internship, you will get a hands-on exposure to the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem and a deep-dive into the bot revolution. The internship will last up to 6 months and would fit a thesis work. Start date is May 1 or earlier.

To be successful in this internship we are looking for talented individuals who have recently finished or are studying towards either their Bachelor or Master Degree in software engineering, computer science, or hands-on digital marketing.
