Your responsibilities
As a Procurement Engineer, you represent procurement in product creation projects. You organize early supplier involvement with a Design for eXcellence (DfX) mindset and you make use of approaches like co-design and value engineering workshops. You consider procurement across the entire lifecycle of the product including service driving supplier selection in conjunction with your relevant procurement colleagues.

You think strategically creating a procurement strategy that enables the business roadmap. You provide input to your procurement colleagues on supply base characteristics based on business requirements. You ensure procurement related risks (quality, availability, cost) are controlled and mitigated.
Additionally, you drive cost downs activities. You identify strategic cost reduction opportunities for products in the portfolio and for products in development. In new product development you drive savings in close cooperation with Marketing, Quality, SCM Development & Commodity Management. In this way you deliver a significant contribution to business cases and product roadmaps. To enable this, you understand cost drivers and the power of standardization.
Other responsibilities include:
- Lead or participate in Design for excellence (DfX) conventions
- Identify strategic cost reduction opportunities in the product portfolio and during the new product design process delivering a significant contribution to design decision making and product roadmaps.
- Support the negotiation teams with conceptual and fact-based information and opportunities to drive significant structural cost reduction improvement.
- Execute and support phase in – phase Out (PIPO) planning related to new product introduction
- Supports the Supplier Quality Manager in new supplier component release process as part of the Advanced Quality Plan (AQP), including compliance and sustainability aspects
- Provide should-cost assessments, make-buy analysis
- Supports the in/outsourcing process (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp-up)
Your team
This position is open in the Patient Care Monitoring Systems (PCMS) business located in Andover Massachusetts. You will work together with Procurement & Commodity Engineers and report to the Procurement Engineering Business Partner.

We are looking for
- Master degree in a relevant technical discipline extended with MBA
- Procurement Management
- Professional with a 5-7 years proven track
- Expert in executing and managing Cost Down projects and new product introduction Projects
- Expert in value Engineering, DfX, LEAN and/or Six Sigma
- Expert in applying the materials / goods flow knowledge
- Is a knowledge leader regarding the entire costing toolset (Should Costing, NPV, TCO etc.) in projects
- Deep knowledge of the long term structural cost drivers for an assigned product/category
- A team player who is both proactive and cooperative; easily gains trust and support of peers; encourages collaboration and challenges constructively
- Strategically thinker that is at the same time hands-on. Delivers results.
- Understands and is able to challenge specifications
- Experience in international and multidisciplinary project teams is preferred
- Prepared to travel up to 20% of the time
