Your challenge

This role offers a unique combination of conceptual and complex supply chain redesign, assessment of cost drivers in physical distribution as well as pragmatic and innovative approach to realize cost reductions through procurement. Your analytical skills will turn complex data from different sources in to information for decision making. You will be able to make a valuable contribution by improving the Total Cost of Ownership in the Philips supply chain.

Your Responsibilities -

As a Procurement Engineer for logistics you are responsible for:

  • Assessing as-is and to-be E2E supply chains, driving the request for quotation and supplier selection process together with commodity teams (incl. provision of input to commodity teams on business requirements and supply base characteristics)
  • Promoting early supplier involvement for better designs on cost and performance
  • Leading and executing Design for Excellence (DfX) conventions, including “design for logistics” and “make or buy” or insource/outsourcing processes
  • Optimizing physical distribution networks and improving customer service levels while optimizing the integral E2E physical distribution costs
  • Acting as Global Supplier Manager for a strategic supplier
  • Supporting price negotiations with fact-based information and opportunities to drive short term cost reduction improvements

Your team

You will be part of a global team of enthusiastic logistics and procurement professionals within Philips Procurement (Indirect Material & Services, Forwarding & Distribution), responsible for the sourcing of logistics services for all Philips sectors, to provide businesses and markets with a competitive advantage and drive value. You will report directly into the Commodity Cluster Leader. You will have close interaction with management of the supply chain and commercial operations across the different Philips markets and businesses as well as with logistics service providers.

We are looking for

A strong Procurement Engineer who can achieve cost reduction through (big) data analyses, value engineering and supply chain optimization. The candidate that we are looking for has a big passion for data and content!

Next to that you have/are:

  • Sound practical knowledge of how procurement and supply chains work and be able to assess the cost drivers of both procurement and supply chain processes
  • Familiarity with how procurement and supply chain cost calculations are built up and what costs and mark-ups are applicable throughout
  • Advanced capabilities in building data / cost models in Excel / Access / other applications
  • Ability to adaptively produce and share content in different business arenas; from internal stakeholders to suppliers
  • Communicative, innovative, adaptive and accurate team player
  • Analytical, conceptual thinker, pragmatic, strong interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit, with focus on getting things done
