Mechanical Design Engineer II, Philips Healthcare, (Pewaukee, WI.)

Your Challenge: The Mechanical Design Engineer II assists Engineers in developing design concepts for new products. Activities include design of detail parts and assemblies, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. Also involves analyzing functional relationships and tolerance stack-ups between mating parts, and developing and performing design evaluation and testing.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Performs product development design activities, including the implementation of customer/marketing specifications.
  • Apply principles of functional analysis, including analysis of tolerance stack-ups and their effects on assembly.
  • Gather technical information from vendors as necessary; attend vendor and product design team meetings.
  • Provides existing product line support in design activities and documentation.
  • Investigate issues, and Initiate change orders/notices to support various other departments.
  • Order and evaluate new materials and prototype parts and assemblies.
  • Oversee or perform testing or prototyping efforts.

Your Requirements:

  • Typically requires a four-year technical degree or five years design experience.
  • Mastery of basic tools, measurement and testing devices required for assembling mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Mastery of a Mechanical CAD design tool software.
  • Model building skills helpful, as well as the ability to operate machine tools for prototyping.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of engineering methodology and processes required.
  • Understanding of various manufacturing processes including machined parts and injection molding.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity with hands and tools used in assembly operations.
  • Possess basic computer skills, with an understanding of word processor, spreadsheet software, and mechanical CAD tools.
