R&D Materials Engineer Intern

Summary of roles and responsibilities

Primary job responsibilities

  • Biocompatibility of materials data compilation for risk assessment reports for each material type. (this is a huge undertaking but would greatly reduce risk if audited – simplify data search)
  • Chemical compatibility of materials data compilation. (this is also huge undertaking but would greatly reduce risk if audited – was discussed in detail during the Affiniti /EPIQ risk assessment)
  • Work with development teams to assess material development needs/requirements.
  • Conduct material characterization testing on materials provided or procured based on development team needs
  • Bulk acoustic properties
  • Mechanical properties DMA, TMA, Bond strength
  • Thermal properties DSC
  • Electrical properties
  • Process development
  • Mixing /blending
  • Surface modifications
  • Subassembly development
  • Material process
  • Coordinate material for grinding, sputtering, bonding, dicing etc.
  • Data analysis
  • Minitab
  • Trade-off matrix
  • Report out – both written and oral presentations
