Job Title
IGTD UI/UX Designer

Job Description

IGTD UI/UX Designer

Be a key leader in the creation and definition of medical device product concepts for products used to diagnose and treat a variety of vascular diseases!

Your role:

  • You will serve as the voice of user experience design, ensuring that workflow and human factors elements are included in the design of medical devices and software for Philips Image Guided Therapy Devices from the beginning. By understanding and representing the end user and how they use our products, as well as the needs driven from other aspects of the medical procedures these products are used in, you will help the teams develop solutions that are more capable and easier to adopt and use. You will create interface and interaction guidance based on deep understanding of the context of use. To support user interface implementation, you will define and document experience principles, user interface visuals, and software behaviors in alignment with existing design system documentation.
  • You will work with a cross-functional product development team, working especially closely with R&D and Marketing. You bring key competencies to the cross-functional team including workflow assessments, design sprint facilitation, concept development, and creation of a consistent brand experience for our end users with the help of the Philips Design Language design system. You will work closely with other designers, engineers, and software architects to identify opportunities and constraints of technology and platform choices. You will provide insights and expert guidance on the impact of front-end technologies on user experience.
  • You will be joining a team of award-winning designers dedicated to the IGTD business in Plymouth, MN, and will be working with Philips teammates in the United States and Europe including the entire Philips Design community, which consists of more than 400 designers in locations worldwide. You will have the chance to directly interact with physicians and other health-care professionals as you help your team understand user needs and gain feedback on concepts at medical conferences and on customer site visits. You will be part of the first team that is embedding these competencies directly within the IGTD business, and thereby shaping the expectations and Ways of Working for this team in the future.
You're the right fit if:
  • You've acquired 4+ years of experience in UX Design with a proven track record of products making it to market. Prior medical device and software design is highly desired; experience understanding and translating user needs into software and on-device interface concepts is a must-have.
  • Your skills include advanced competency in digital tools for concept communication (Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.), understanding of design sprint methodology (ability to facilitate is highly desired), ability to prototype concepts for user interactions (using Figma and Framer), and demonstrated ability in understanding and documenting workflow (user stories, ethnographic research, and workflow analyses). Competency with standard digital office tools a must-have.
  • You have a degree or certifications in interaction design, user experience design, human-computer interaction (highly desired) or degrees or certifications in adjacent disciplines like art or graphic design (considered with relevant experience). Passion for a polished user experience and understanding the customer's "Job to Be Done" is a must-have, as is understanding of Design Thinking and Human Centered Design process.
  • You're an accomplished communicator both visually and verbally, interested in different perspectives and understanding the whole challenge, able to understand and articulate the ecosystem within which the customer's challenge arises, successful at collaborating with cross-functional teammates, able to productively challenge the status quo and manage stakeholders, enthusiastic about lean and experiment-based learning approaches, and passionate about delivering results.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position .
