In this role, you have the opportunity to:
The Director Medical Affairs leads the activities of the Clinical Affairs Department within the Hospital Respiratory Care business entity. The Director Medical Affairs fulfills the job functions specified below working collaboratively with associates stationed primarily at our Carlsbad, CA site, who serve as Clinical Research Specialists, Principal Scientists, Principal Medical Educators, and similar roles.

You are responsible for
The successful candidate will be responsible to conduct, manage and execute:

  • Clinical studies: characterize study questions, identify and qualify clinical sites, obtain local, national, and international clearances with institutional research boards, collaborate with Legal to negotiate Investigator, Consulting, and Loan Agreements, ensure Compliance with internal and external standards, supervise bench, animal, and human studies with attention to Good Clinical Practice, manage payments to institutions and individuals, supervise data collection, archiving and reporting, including posting on
  • Liaison to the medical community: Make presentations to clinicians as part of formal and informal teaching and promotion, maintain contact with key opinion leaders through coordination of visits to clinical sites and meetings at clinical symposia, link internal associates to the clinical world through teaching and visit programs
  • Internal consultation: offer expertise informally though conversation and formally in writing to address questions originating from associates in R&D, Marketing, Sales, Quality/Regulatory, and Operations, adding value where clinical experience provides important insight and perspective.
  • Travel of 25% or more will be required, including trips outside the United States. A valid Passport will be required.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
EDUCATION: MD, Board Certification in Pulmonary and Critical Care
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years clinical at bedside after completion of training and minimum of 5 years in industry would be required.
