Key areas of responsibility:

  • Lead CDM Systems activities (EDC, Study Build, Clinical Programming)
  • Build and manage database capturing and monitoring accuracy of clinical trial data.
  • Lead or provide oversight to technical infrastructure of the clinical programming and EDC environments With Development IT, contribute to strategy for integration of systems, including DM systems (EDC, CTMS, Data Warehouse, etc.) and partner systems (CTMS, IVRS, Safety database, etc.)
  • Conducts annual vendor selection activities for all areas of responsibility
  • Directs communication and training activities for non-technical staff and partners
  • Acts as conduit between DM and IT; prepares and presents projects to IT Steering Committee
  • Develops and implements strategy for the improvement of productivity and standardizing of study build and programming activities
  • Oversees all programming support activities for a clinical program in line with timely and accurate data integration
  • Determines documentation and archival standards of CDM Systems deliverables including DM systems, databases, programs, and specifications
  • Working with IT, ensures that local IT infrastructure meets Global Biostatistics/Data Management needs and global standards
  • Develops, applies and promotes consistent standards through standard processes and SOPs
  • Ensures guidelines and specifications on validation procedures and data transfer procedures are followed. Maintain appropriate documentation surrounding maintaining or archiving clinical data and/or programs
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
  • Represents function in external professional initiatives and organizations to identify industry best practices
  • The ability to travel up to 15% of time


Requirements for the Position:
  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in statistics, computer science, or related field with a minimum of 3+ years of Clinical Data Management experience in a device/pharma industry.
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Strong well-rounded technical skills: EDC, SAS, and CDISC
  • Knowledge of lab/image data and other external data sources
  • Strong scientific background and understanding of clinical trials, pharmaceutical operations, and regulatory compliance
  • Practical knowledge of ICH, FDA, and GCP regulations and guidelines;
  • Demonstrated success in leadership roles contributing to critical regulatory submissions such as safety updates, FDA requests, and/or briefing documents
  • Strong scientific background and understanding of clinical trials, pharmaceutical operations, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven ability to take independent action to initiate process improvement, when needed
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix-like manner where cross-functional interaction is an implicit Way of Working
  • Proven ability to deliver on delegated work efficiently
  • Solid time-management skills to meet deliverables commensurate with a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized, able to multitask and prioritize competing tasks
  • Able to manage expectations with supervisors, peers and customers.
