Database Management Specialist

The Database Management Specialist supports a Civilian Agency Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC) organization protecting the network security of tens of thousands of users. The work site is located in Leesburg, Virginia.

Senior Database Management Specialist responsibilities include:

• Maintaining databases containing information interpreted from SOC sensor data and reported by information sharing partners for government and the private sector.

• A strong working knowledge of Oracle is mandatory, including DataGuard and Oracle Advanced Security features.

• Must be able to install and configure Oracle DB (at least through versions 11g and 12c) on various platforms including but not limited to: Windows 2008 and 2012, and Linux Red Hat.

• Candidate will provide administrative support, architectural support, and back-up and recovery support.

• Any other duties as requested by the Contracting Officer Representative and SOC management.

Qualities/Additional info: Database Management Specialist should be a proven team player with excellent oral and written communications skills. Database Management Specialist should also be self-starter, capable of working on projects independently, if required. Frequent interaction with government client is required. Occasional local travel. Infrequent (<5%) local travel, infrequent (<5%) long distance travel.

Required Education and Experience:


- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information systems.


- Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience.


- In addition to required education or equivalent experience;

- Minimum five (5) years relational [ODBC compliant] Database experience under multiple Operating Systems (e.g. Linux Red Hat, Windows 2008 or 2012).


- Must have at least seven (7) years Oracle DB experience with at least one year on versions 10g or 11g.

- Expert knowledge of ArcSight, Oracle, MYSQL, and Microsoft SQL is preferred.

Preferred Experience:

- Exceptional writing and documentation skills.

- Experience with Python scripting.

- Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and Computer Associates Unicenter and Portal solutions.

- Familiarity with security scanning and monitoring tools such as McAfee Foundstone and IBM’s

IEM (Big Fix).

- Experience with information security devices (e. g., firewalls, and intrusion detection systems) and applications (e.g. security information management tools (e.g., NetForensics, ArcSight).
