Schedule Availability:
Must have open availability to work our Pharmacy department hours below
Pharmacy Department Hours: (Mon-Thurs 8am to 8pm) (Fri 8am to 7pm) (Sat 9-5)
* 40 hours per week minimum
MUST be a a licensed Pharmacist in the state of Florida
What Will You Be Doing?
This position will be involved in all aspects of pharmacy operations while ensuring adherence to ethical and safe pharmacy practices. The ideal candidate will be able to process and verify prescriptions promptly with the utmost quality in a high-volume department. This individual will be responsible for performing the final checks on prescriptions that have been prepared by pharmacy technicians or other support personnel. They will communicate by phone with veterinarians and customers to get verbal approvals and answer medication-related questions. The ideal candidate will also perform and assist in all other operations in the pharmacy to ensure that the prescriptions dispensed are accurate, safe, and in compliance with Federal and State pharmacy laws. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changes in departmental needs with ease are essential.
Responsibilities Include:
- Review and interpret Veterinary orders for appropriateness and ensure that incorrect dosages have not been prescribed and that interactions, incompatibilities, or toxic compounds will not result from the combination of medications; assure that drugs are appropriately labeled, stored, and utilized according to Veterinary instructions.
- Dispense prescriptions following company policies and procedures and in conformance with regulations and laws dealing with the class of prescription; counsel patients about their medications and maintain an accurate and up-to-date patient profile.
- Provide drug information such as dosing, compatibilities, formulary substitutes, etc., to our customers and veterinarians and clinics.
- Participate in in-service education programs when requested and be involved in CQI activities as required by Board of Pharmacy regulations and Company Policies.
- Maintain positive and instructional interaction with other pharmacists, veterinarians, and support staff.
- Verify the work performed by support personnel.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the profession by participating in organization memberships; attending meetings, lectures, in-services, seminars; reading journals; complying with National Standards of Continuing Education to maintain professional competency and proficiency.
- Participate in special studies as requested.
- Update and maintain pharmacy logs.
- Process RX Returns for destruction. Report Form 41 for destruction of controls all transactions.
- Participate in cycle counts and inventory control.
- Monthly monitoring of pharmacy expiration dates.
- Update product descriptions in pharmacy verification system.
- Ensure prepackaged medications are performed according to SOP and records maintained.
- Continuously update Policies and Procedures.
- Monitor, Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot pharmacy robotics/equipment.
- Assure that the quality of professional services is maintained.
- Responsible to assist with cleanliness and upkeep of pharmacy work areas.
- Conform to company policies to provide superior customer service and patient care.
- This is an onsite position, with requirement to work in our Distribution Center as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested.
