About the Role:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to expand our e-commerce marketplace with new vendor acquisition. This is a sales heavy, business development role. You will be accountable for identifying and recruiting the right brands, manufacturers, and/or merchandising vendors to bring onto our e-commerce marketplace - playing a significant role in the growth of our marketplace's value proposition to Perpay customers. You will lead communications with prospective brands and recruiting them onto the marketplace, managing the process from identification to integration into the marketplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketplace expansion strategy including Identifying prospective vendors that would be a potential fit to bring onto our platform, how to reach them, and pitch a partnership, managing all B2B outreach and communications with prospective brands, manufacturers, and/or merchandise vendors, and leading and coordinating the new vendor onboarding process
  • Continuously monitor the competitive landscape, identifying opportunities and analyzing risks to our marketplace expansion plans, and adjusting strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with internal teams including marketing, product management, and commerce, to ensure seamless integration of new vendors and products into the marketplace
  • Develop best practices to manage vendor outreach and attract vendors to the platform, onboard them, and build a launch plan in collaboration with the Commerce and Marketing teams
  • Be the face of our organization and build brand awareness/attraction through proactive reach outs, trade shows, conferences, and more
  • Build trust quickly and lead by influence with the ability to translate between commercial and operational audiences

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • Detailed understanding of e-commerce, retail and brand awareness 
  • Demonstrated success in scaling a marketplace, with a deep understanding of e-commerce trends and best practices
  • 5+ experience in buying, merchandising, and/or business development in the retail industry 
  • Resilient attitude; a “no” to you isn’t always final and it fires you up to win the next opportunity
  • Creative persistence; no obstacle is too large and when there’s a will, there’s a way
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently; everything is negotiable
  • Excellent research skills and proficiency with Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
