Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Product Compliance Engineer to join our Product Safety and Compliance team. This individual will be based in Taichung and report to Sr. Director, Product Safety and Technical Compliance, working cross-functionally with various teams, including Product, Design, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure that all products are safe, legally compliant, and certification-ready for global markets. In addition to meeting baseline regulatory requirements, the engineer will help drive initiatives that elevate product safety beyond compliance.
This role involves leading compliance strategies during product development and sustaining activities, owning certification documentation, and building scalable processes that embed safety and compliance into the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret and apply global regulatory requirements related to performance, materials, packaging, and mechanical/electrical safety.
- Drive the creation and execution of test and certification plans for new product introductions and sustaining changes.
- Develop pre-certification test strategies to proactively identify and resolve compliance issues early in the development cycle.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive technical documentation packages; conduct periodic audits and updates.
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and third-party labs to debug and implement compliant solutions during development and testing.
- Define and implement manufacturing audit protocols to ensure continued regulatory compliance in mass production.
- Build and manage relationships with certification bodies (e.g., UL, TÜV, Intertek, SGS) to scope, schedule, and manage testing programs.
- Review and analyze test reports from labs and suppliers; ensure corrective actions are taken where needed.
- Standardize and improve compliance processes across product development and change management workflows.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on product compliance and safety—ensuring clear, digestible communication of technical requirements to internal stakeholders.
- Monitor evolving global regulations and translate relevant updates into actionable guidance for internal teams.
- Actively participate in design reviews and change control boards to ensure compliance and safety are addressed throughout the product lifecycle.
- Actively participate in on-site product builds as well as supplier qualification audits as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must have Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree
- Must have previous global product certification experience
- Experience working in fitness, Electrical Consumer Products and/or Consumer electronics, or other related fields
- Familiar with ASTM, EN, ISO Mechanical Safety standards as well as FCC, IC, and EN EMC testing,.
- Familiar with Global Chemical compliance regulations such as REACH, RoHS, Prop65, TSCA and chemical testing
- Strong data analytics and technical documentation skills
- Strong communication and organization skills with the ability to clearly and concisely provide updates to cross-functional teams
- Able to prioritize and balance multiple projects/deliverables while remaining focused on attention to detail
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, self-starter dynamic environment while fostering collaboration.
- Requires frequent domestic travel (up to 30%)
Preferred:
- Experience with UL817, IEC60335 series standards, ISO/EN 20957 series standards as well as ASTM Fitness equipment standards
- Hands-on experience in product design or at a certification agency
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi certification programs and wireless testing requirements
- Established relationships with certification bodies such as UL, TÜV, or Intertek
