Technical Solutions Engineer

Meet Our Team:

As a part of the Community & Developer Programs team, this is a unique Junior Support Engineer role. This role will provide frontline support, engaging with customers, partners and developers at all levels learning the Peg technology. Our team provides Trial environments as sandboxes for people to get their hands-on our products, as well as Cloud environments for prescriptive hands-on exercises as part of Pega Academy courses. This role will be critical in supporting both the environments, keeping them up to date on the latest product releases, and enhancing the capabilities to provide the ultimate experience for our users.

We are seeing a drastic increase in the amount of people using these systems and the number of students going through Academy due to the pressure on increasing the ecosystem. In this position, you will support several production systems (Pega applications) at our end that we don't have proper support for:

  • Pega Trials
  • Pega Community Edition
  • Pega Academy Exercise Systems
  • Pega Academy 1.0
  • In addition to support, you will be able to do some other activities like upgrades of the environments

What You'll Do at Pega:

  • Support external students utilizing Pega's cloud environments for hands-on learning
  • Ensure seamless experiences for customers and developers using Trial environments to familiarize themselves with the Pega products or deepen their knowledge of those products
  • Actively monitor Trial cloud environments, taking proactive action to avoid issues in production applications
  • Respond to customer inquiries,triaging more complex issues and solving simpler ones individually
  • Contribute to ongoing work with US based staff, like production application upgrades and expansions into new technologies
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and maintenance documentations.
  • Recommend improvements to systems and processes, and ultimately be responsible for implementing these improvements

Who You Are:

  • You are a full stack software engineer who excels at complex problem solving and working directly with client stakeholders. With a broad technical background, you enjoy being challenged and the puzzle of getting to the root of application issues
  • When hitting obstacles, you are someone who relishes the chance to learn and even struggle a bit in order to get to the solution, yet know when it's time to ask for assistance
  • Knowledgeable in an object-oriented language (we use Java) and, to some degree, with databases, scripting language, and integrations between systems
  • Comfortable working with and assisting external students in the hands-on learning experience in our Pega Cloud environment
  • Independently able to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently

What You've Accomplished:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2-4 years of experience or a master's degree with 1-2 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Instructional Design, or 4+ years of experience with a non-related degree or equivalent on the job experience
  • Strong verbal English communication skills, with proven ability to communicate clearly with the external and internal customers
  • Good Understanding of object-oriented design and programming principles
  • Experience building applications in Java Language
  • Knowledge on Operating System, Application server, Database and Cloud
  • Proficient working knowledge of project implementation methodologies such as Scrum and related project management tools
  • System Architect Certification required
  • Senior System Architect Certification (within 3 to 4 months after joining Pega)
  • The following additional preferred qualifications:
  • Familiarity with structured authoring (XML, HTML5)
  • Experience working in virtualized software environments (VMWare, VirtualBox, etc)
  • Scrum Master certification a plus
