Designs, builds, documents, evaluates, and supports existing and new manufacturing processes to facilitate efficient production through put and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Actively participates in and is responsible for setup, tryout and validation of newly developed production equipment and processes, which includes but is not limited to dies, molds, vision systems, die sensors, press monitoring systems, press auxiliary equipment, washing/cleaning systems, assembly lines, automation systems.
  • Actively participates in and is responsible for the calibration of existing manufacturing equipment and processes, which includes but is not limited to dies, molds, vision systems, die sensors, press monitoring systems, press auxiliary equipment, washing/cleaning systems, assembly lines, automation systems.
  • Actively participates in and is responsible for documentation of procedures, work instructions and risk management for existing and new manufacturing equipment and processes, which includes but is not limited to dies, molds, vision systems, die sensors, press auxiliary equipment, washing/cleaning systems, assembly lines, automation systems. This responsibility includes input to documentation required for PFMEA, Control Charts, PPAP documentation and participation in APQP teams.
  • Actively participates in and is responsible for the support of existing production programs to minimize equipment down time, maximize resource productivity and improve quality utilizing problem solving skills that result in the implementation of successful corrective and preventive actions.
  • Technical advisor for internal and external stakeholders which includes customers, suppliers and all internal departments as required.
  • Specify production equipment and assist in supplier selection.
  • Works within company and customer based teams to meet customer requirements and increase process efficiency.
  • When required, prepares drawings and develops tooling for manufacturing processes in order to generate or improve efficient production through put. The tooling may include, but is not limited to, new dies, renovation of existing dies, production support equipment components and systems.
  • When required, works with customers in the design and dimensioning of stamped product to optimize its function and its manufacturability.
  • When required, works with the die shop personnel in the grooming process and in solving other tooling problems.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervision authority. However, the position is responsible for success through direction and coordination of tasks with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to support manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and five to ten years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of electronics and mechanical aptitude are required. Two years minimum CAD (computer aided design) experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry, basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
