Maintenance Technician

The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine building maintenance tasks and assist the facilities manager in all requested duties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain worker orders, both manually and through software.
  • Order parts and maintain related receipts.
  • Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect needed repair using a pre-established check sheet.
  • Perform electrical maintenance to include, but not limited to the replacement or repair of fixtures such as: wall switches, outlets, light bulbs and tubes, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.
  • Execute minor carpentry and masonry work such as: hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.
  • Prepare and paint/stain/varnish surfaces using a brush, sprayer or roller.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance, such as: replacement or repair of leaks in drains/faucets, unclogging drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices.
  • Oversee the other Facilities Technicians in the absence of the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

  • Work involves occasional exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc.
  • Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions.
  • Position requires incumbent to bend at the waist, sit, kneel, lay horizontally, climb ladders, walk and stand.
  • Individual will be required to independently travel to work sites.
  • Incumbent will regularly operate common tools and power tools.
  • Individual will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Incumbent must be able to read, see, hear, and speak.

Work Days and Shifts:
  • Position works variable hours and days.

Education/Certification(s)/License(s) required:
  • Associate' s Degree in or certificate in a skilled trade helpful.

Experience/Other Required:
  • Valid Driver' s License and reliable transportation required.
  • 7-10 years of working experience in facility maintenance.
  • Three to five years of experience in minor electrical repairs.
  • One to three years of plumbing experience.
  • HVAC experience a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
