Work for an international construction company who offers competitive salaries and challenging projects. This position will be for a project worth over $415 million.

Initial Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare change order requests and cost proposals, and participate in negotiations with owner.
  • Work with engineers in preparation of change order proposals.
  • Prepare claims, and participate in negotiations with Owner.
  • Work with engineers in preparation of claims.
  • Work with schedule engineer in regards to time impacts for change orders and claims.
  • Compose correspondence pertaining to potential changes, claims, and time extensions.
  • Review correspondence prepared by others in regards to change orders, claims, and time extensions.
  • Review subcontractor change order proposals and claims for reasonableness and compliance.
  • Manage the Force Account Work process as necessary.
  • Manage cost accountant preparation of Force Account and resolve any issues.
  • Work with Engineers to control the Force Account Work.
  • Maintain the Active Force Account spreadsheets as necessary, including both work pre-approved by the Owner and also work where merit is not yet approved by the Owner.
  • Maintain Issue Log and Manage Ongoing Issues.
  • Maintain Updated Cost Estimating Spreadsheet with Updated Labor and Equipment Rates.
  • Provide cost information for claims, change orders, estimating as needed.
  • Provide special cost and productivity studies as required.
  • Maintain project productivity studies and records.
  • Perform contract scope review and studies as required.
  • Prepare man-hour production studies as required.
  • Review and interpret plans and specifications to assure project contract compliance and advise when changes are effected.
  • Review RFI' s for contractual requirements and scope issues.
  • Review field activities as to contract requirements, and notify appropriate supervisor when work not required by contract is being performed.
  • Support Construction Manager, Superintendents, and Construction Engineers in regards to scope issues, changes, claims, cost studies, production studies.
  • Support Construction Manager, Superintendents, and Construction Engineers in regards to schedule issues and updates.
  • Work with Owner personnel and CM Team as needed during change order and claims process.

Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 10 years experience in heavy civil or general engineering construction.
  • Experience in estimating, change order and claim preparation required.
  • Ability to get along with superintendents, engineers, Owner and CM Team members is required.
  • Excellent technical and mathematical abilities needed.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and proposals.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in other construction industry standard software packages is a strong plus.
