Spring 2019 Intern, IT Audio-Visual Services


The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Spring Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Information Technology team, specifically Audio-Visual Services. This paid Internship is a part-time temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 hours per week for an undergraduate student currently attending a bachelors program in the DC area. Pay Range and Employment Status:

Interns shall be classified as temporary, part-time employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work less than PCORI's full-time schedule for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary, part-time workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.

Current undergraduate level students will be paid $15.00 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Audio-Visual Services intern will assist the IT department with implementing a conference scheduling software for employees through software testing and documentation, hands-on training, developing content and graphics for training materials and user guides, and creating short tutorial videos. They will be responsible for making sure that users transition software platforms smoothly by assisting with software deployment, training, feedback surveys, and acting as subject matter expert. The position will also include cross-collaboration among teams in PCORI's Operations department such as Administrative Services and Procurement to facilitate projects.

The intern's project will be to analyze areas of project success to identify areas of improvement for future rollouts. This includes comparing risks and challenges prior to and after deployment, measuring success of training initiatives, and incorporating staff feedback, surveys, and metrics to support their analysis.

As part of their project role, the intern will provide tier 1 technical support, event support, end-user training, and act as project assistant to the Audio-Visual Services team. Their duties will include but not limited to communicating with internal users for troubleshooting, training, or documentation purposes, editing video content, and assisting with webinars. The intern will also perform system testing and document any issues found for the Operations Manager of Audio-Visual Services to drive follow-up actions.

This position's duties and responsibilities will also include other audio-visual related tasks, including conference room equipment sweeps, new/departed employee account audits, webinar support, hardware support, and other administrative project support.

Application Process:

Applications for the PCORI Spring Internship Program will be accepted up until midnight on November 19th. Applicants who are chosen will be phone screened by a representative from PCORI Human Resources department and top candidates will move a final round interview phase. In-person and Skype interviews at PCORI with relevant intern supervisors will take place December 10th - 14th.
