Venmo Risk works across regions in NYC and Omaha w/partners in Chicago, it is highly important that the Venmo Team Leader is an active communicator and is effective in establishing working relationships with their peers and partners across all regions. The Venmo Risk Team Leader will have a strong collaborative relationship with your one-team partners across regions fostering a vibrant working environment with your working group to generate strong feedback and innovative ideas for the future of Venmo. As a Leader, you will be able to foster an open collaborative environment for the sharing of best practices while engaging and developing your direct reports. The Venmo Risk Team Leader will build, develop, and lead an engaging group of employees into a high performing team that meets or exceeds performance goals. The Team Leader will have the skills to work with key performance indicators (KPIs) through the usage of reports generated by Risk OPS Management. This data review will be a large part of the teammate’s performance each quarter and will offer key highlights for performance coaching. The Team Leader will support and drive needs-based initiatives through communication, coaching, best practice sharing, and calibrations. Listening skills will be a top priority as the Venmo teammates will be a sounding board of ideas. Venmo Team Leader will be able to translate beneficial/priority feedback received from the Venmo Risk teammates to the strategy and OPS teams for tenable leads on potential solutions and knowledge/procedural gaps.

Core Duties:

  • Establish core relationships with working partners and finding ways for synergy amongst all teams.
  • Establish relationships and engage with other people managers and key stakeholders.
  • Strategic communication with management and other business units; drive to bring complex issues to resolution, influencing at the function/site level.
  • Analyze data delivered through reports generated by Risk Management to provide feedback, process/policy updates, and to coach/develop teammates.
  • Review, communicate, and coach to teammate performance, quality, behavior, and attendance standards at the individual and team level.  Utilize formal correction action procedures as required.
  • Schedule, prepare, and lead 1:1 coaching and team meetings that are interactive, engaging and agent driven.
  • Utilize 70/20/10 model to coach and develop teammates.
  • Complete the required number of quality reviews per teammate each month. 
  • Work cases and escalations as required.
  • Strong knowledge level within departmental procedures; regularly review and ensure that teammates follow procedures, process flows and guidelines.
  • Participate in teammate selection, internal talent movement, and training needs assessment and closure of knowledge gaps.  This may also include supporting supervisor development initiatives such as teammate internships and team rotations.

Prerequisite Knowledge & Proficiencies:

  • Strong communication skills in all formats (verbal, written) and ability to effectively communicate with all organizational levels
  • Ability to direct and motivate others and effectively delegate to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for results (move the needle); Understand and articulate the impact of key metrics to teammate and department results.
  • Ability to recognize the need for and lead through change management initiates while maintaining and driving teammate engagement

  • Strong working knowledge of external systems, PC & Apple based internet and software applications (Internet, Google Docs, Google Forms, Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Basic knowledge of internal systems & software (Venmo Underground, ZenDesk, Wiki, Slack)


2+ years relevant work experience required

2 yr. supervisory experience and/or 12 months of experience in Venmo Risk Analysis required

3 yr. of combined experience in financial or fintech industry

Educational Requirements:

BS/BA degree or educational equivalent

Physical Requirements:

This position requires sitting, typing and repetitive motions.
