Job Description Summary:

PayPal is looking for a highly talented and motivated Tech Lead to support the internal Global Safety & Security (mainly covering Physical Security Technologies) and Legal functions. This individual will be responsible for technically supporting both day to day operations and also helping to turn our multi-year business and technology transformation vision into reality. The Tech Lead will achieve success by relying on their superior soft and hard skills to navigate and excel in our Agile and fast-moving technology culture. This person will take a role partnering directly with our business stakeholders and technologists to solve challenges related to information security, networking, disaster recovery and scalability, system design and business workflows.

Job Description:

  • Drive technical designs to consensus and approval within GSS and Legal’s cross-functional technology teams.

  • Deliver quality High Level Design documentation for new initiatives and updates to existing solutions, that may be leveraged by other technology teams to drive the implementation

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business domains and enterprise technology inventory of GSS and Legal to craft solution roadmaps that both achieve business objectives and maximize reuse.

  • Design and oversee end-to-end solutions that provide frameworks, interfaces, and services that can be leveraged and extended for future requirements.

  • Participate and drive technical aspects of the selection of vendor solutions, including developing questions for vendors that highlight key capabilities for the business and working on scoring responses to RFPs.

  • Provide regular high-level communications to the executive staff and detailed communications to domain stakeholders

  • Work with Development Managers, Program Managers, Architects, and Lead Engineers in scoping, phasing, and sizing domain product launches

  • Proactively engage with other team-members and cross-functional teams to ensure all open issues are identified & resolved.

  • Produce diagrams, reference architecture, domain models, and other artifacts that describe complex problems and end-to-end solutions.

  • Specify robust, responsive architecture and design aligned to our end-state through active business and technology partner engagement.

  • Leverage organization savvy to connect the dots, expose product and delivery opportunities, and then execute.

Job Requirements

  • Extensive experience dealing with design and architecture related to Information Security, Networking, Database, Disaster Recovery, Resilience and Scalability.

  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise Information Security patterns and approaches related to deployment and integration of on premise and SaaS software. Knowledge and experience with high availability patterns and technologies related to clustering and load balancing a plus.

  • Integration experience involving on premise and SAAS applications, including using Integration as a Service platforms.

  • Cloud architecture experience (Azure , GCP in particular), including migration and deployment of on-premise applications to 3rd party cloud infrastructure.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 6 years of architecting, designing and delivering enterprise-grade, distributed, mission-critical applications. Experience with UML and Design tools such as Visio, Gliffy a plus.

  • Must possess a proven track record of developing business vision, developing technical architectures to address that vision, and communicating that vision with technologists to make that vision a reality

  • Must exhibit strong leadership and exceptional technical skills

  • Must possess a track record of innovation and execution in a high-pressure environment

  • Make timely, high-quality decisions, based on limited information

  • Proficient using industry standards and technical expertise to establish best practices and strategic technical solutions.

  • Deep understanding of Software Architecture and Design patterns.

  • Experience around design and deployment of Physical Security Technologies (Video Management and Access Control) a plus.
