Paypal is looking for an individual who can balance technical risks against business risks and consistently drive for the right results. Candidate must have a passion for engineering novel solutions to complex security challenges and recognize and fill gaps in capabilities. The ability to design and build internal-facing tools that enable scaled programmatic automation is a plus. The successful candidate will have a good mix of deep technical knowledge and a demonstrated background in security operations, incident response, and emergent security intelligence.
An ideal candidate should be able to accomplish the following:
Confidently and intelligently respond to security incidents, and proactively consider how to prevent the same type of incidents from occurring in the future. Build security utilities and tools for internal use that enable you and your fellow Security Engineers to operate at high speed and wide scale. Evaluate the impact to the organization of current security trends, advisories, publications, and academic research. Strong Linux experience required. Must be well versed with security patches, their severities and priorities, and attack vectors to understand the vulnerability risk. Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of sensitivity, and multiple audiences across different time zones.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting enterprise systems
- 1 year of relevant experience in security operations responsibility.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of formal education, experience preferred.
- Must have experience with running scripts across several thousand systems using Ansible or other equivalent tools.
- Perl or Python programming is an added advantage.
- Must have a strong technical background and understand system operating systems, network protocols, software installation on test platforms, and operating systems.
