Pandora is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to support our Subscription Revenue and Royalty accounting process. In this role you will be a key player in the financial close process and will be key participant in developing scalable business processes. Reporting to the Director of Revenue and Royalty Accounting, this role is based at our Oakland headquarters.

During 2016 & 2017 Pandora introduced Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium, which enhanced our users’ listening experience by adding on-demand features. These additional product offerings were released to increase our subscriber base and drive more subscription revenue. In order to carry out Pandora’s vision for these new products, we significantly expanded the scope of our royalty deals and entered into 60+ new contracts with direct licensing partners. As a key member of the Subscription Revenue and Royalties Accounting team, you’ll drive the royalty and subscription accounting, controls and reporting processes for Pandora and the new product offerings and licensing deal environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Calculate revenue to be recognized on Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium subscription products in accordance with GAAP
  • Calculate royalties to be recognized for all Pandora products in accordance with GAAP
  • Reconcile and record sales transactions, cash receipts and subscription activations as part of the revenue recognition process
  • Participate in the financial statement close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations or other analysis as requested
  • Participate in managing relationships with external parties, including licensing partners and cross-functional teams within Pandora
  • Collaborate with external auditors to explain key new arrangements and to determine the proper accounting for the items
  • Partner with various departments to design system enhancements, process changes, and other improvements in order to achieve scalability and to support new business initiatives
  • Ensure revenue and royalty recognition processes are SOX compliant
  • Assist in various initiatives such as system implementations and support for future product growth
  • Assist with special projects needed by Management

Basic Qualifications:

  •  BA/ BS in Accounting or Finance degree from 4 year college or university or equivalent experience
  • CPA License or working towards a CPA Required
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm
  • 3-4 years total of accounting experience
  • Some hands on industry experience working in public company environment is helpful
  • Must have significant hands on experience working with GAAP

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in digital or radio based media highly valued
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Masterful Excel skills
  • A solutions-oriented team player who enjoys a dynamic work environment
  • Strong organizational skills, concise documentation skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
