Scientist Intern, Music Audio & Deep Learning (Summer 2017)

As a Music Information Retrieval scientist you will build upon Pandora's Music Genome Project and help expand the world's leading knowledge base of music information. You will then use this resource to shape Pandora's playlisting and music recommendation systems to delight our listeners. This role is about impact and you'll have the opportunity to directly influence the way hundreds of millions of listeners discover music they love.

Successful candidates will have significant experience designing and building music information retrieval systems, solid programming skills, outstanding communication skills, demonstrated ability to work well in a small team, and a desire to work at Pandora HQ in Oakland, California.

To land this gig, you will need:

  • PhD student in a quantitative field (ideally with 1-2 years remaining in program)
  • Strong background in one or more of: music information retrieval, machine learning, recommender systems, signal processing, and natural language processing 
  • Experience with Python and/or Java
  • Experience with Hive or SQL databases

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with Spark or Hadoop technology stack
  • Familiarity with the modern web technology stack
