Intern- Systems Engineering
At Palo Alto Networks® everything starts and ends with our mission:
Being the cybersecurity partner of choice, protecting our digital way of life.
We have the vision of a world where each day is safer and more secure than the one before. These aren’t easy goals to accomplish – but we’re not here for easy. We’re here for better. We are a company built on the foundation of challenging and disrupting the way things are done, and we’re looking for innovators who are as committed to shaping the future of cybersecurity as we are.
As a Systems Engineer Intern you will be working on one of our SE teams who support field customer teams, such as the Proof of Concept (POC) lab, The Product Evaluations Team and the Service Provider Solutions software development team. These teams leverage software development projects to create new customer demos and to also streamline the functions within our state of the art POC lab. You will sit with the POC team at our HQ location, and interact with different SEs, product managers, and other interns to complete your project.
SE team projects require strong scripting skills and the ability to quickly learn and understand concepts such as methods to wipe the device data, reset factory defaults and upgrade/downgrade PanOS across the entire product portfolio.
Past projects have automated security platform staging in the POC lab, required between each customer engagement. Automation projects typically allow non-technical team members, partners and/or customers to factory default our devices and load new PanOS releases in the most efficient manner with no previous technical experience required.
Our Summer Internship Program from May-August or June-September provides you:
- 1:1 mentorship
- Fun and engaging events that inspire your intellectual curiosity
- The opportunity to expand your knowledge and work on challenging projects
- Connections to other recent grads, and employees across the company as well as our leaders
- Understand cybersecurity technical solutions and how they solve customer problems
- Apply software development skills to automating Palo Alto Networks platform configurations
- Learn how bootstrapping works in customer deployments
- Upgrade and downgrade Palo Alto Networks PanOS code releases
- Learn from experienced SE’s about interacting with customers, sales, partners and other groups
- Have scripting experience, Python preferred
- Understanding of data structures and data science concepts
- Experience with cloud networking services such as AWS, Azure, GCP
- Interest and desire to learn about cybersecurity technical solutions
Requirements – To apply, you must be pursuing a 4-year Undergraduate Degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above, a 2-year Master’s Degree or a Doctorate degree and returning to school in the fall. You must have the authorization to work within the United States. Please note that we will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
Our Systems Engineering team is responsible for designing technical solutions to solve the toughest security problems for our customers. System Engineers, or SEs, are highly sought engineers and software developers with a talent for taking complex technical information and communicating at the right level for many audiences. Successful Systems Engineers have a deep desire to learn the latest and greatest technology, a love of sharing knowledge with all types of people and collaborate with other SEs, engineers, partners, product managers, and many other roles.
We’re trailblazers that dream big, take risks, and challenge cybersecurity’s status quo. It’s simple: we can’t accomplish our mission without diverse teams innovating, together.
