Senior HR Business Partner/Director - Greater Chicagoland area

This is a true Chicago-Land HR Leadership Opportunity. In this role, you will support close to 2000 employees across nine manufacturing plants through a team of seven to eight HR Professionals, as part of Pactiv’s Foodservice Business Unit.  

In addition, you will support HR projects and programs that support the business's performance.  Activities will include directing and/or supporting employment, staffing, talent development, metrics, HR legal compliance, labor and employee relations, union prevention activities, training, safety, succession planning and HR administration.

You will report to the Senior Director of HR with a strong relationship to the Operations Directors and their Plant Managers. You must be able to understand business issues and bring solutions that advance the greater interests of the business.  Prior Manufacturing and Line Management experience is required for this Leadership role.  

You will be based out of one our Chicagoland plants with the expectation of being in the Lake Forest corporate office once a week.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide functional/operational human resources guidance to the plant and value stream through planning, organizing and controlling the activities of the Human Resources Department in support of the assigned client group.
  • Serve as functional resource for employee base, ensuring their understanding and compliance with benefit and HR policies and regulations.
  • Direct talent management and succession planning initiatives for assigned group
  • Provide HR counseling through use of analytics and metrics to improve business performance.
  • Provide functional/operational human resources guidance through planning, organizing and controlling the activities of the Human Resources Team in support of the assigned client group.
  • Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of client group in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continual improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of client group's goals, objectives and systems.
  • Manage recruitment effort for all exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees; monitor recruitment program; employee relations counseling; performance planning.
  • Provides labor relations support to the organization, including the handling or grievances, arbitrations, organizing campaigns, negotiations, NLRB charges, annual wage reviews/surveys for the hourly population and other employment matters.
  • Manage/maintain records related to same. Manage and maintain department records and reports.
  • Actively participate in client group and HR projects & meetings.
  • Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of client group in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continual improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of client group's goals, objectives and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related area required with 10+ years’ experience as HR Generalist across roles in manufacturing and corporate environments.
  • Industry/manufacturing knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, local employment/labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels within org.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excel and Financial capability is highly desirable.
  • SAP experience highly desirable.
