Printing & Die Cutting Process Engineer

This position is for Pactiv, a company of Reynolds Group Holding Inc.


Working under direction of the print engineering manager, this position will work closely with plant operations to optimize manufacturing results. The employee will perform a variety of engineering work in the planning, design, installation, start-up, training, troubleshooting and auditing of printing/cutting equipment and systems project work.  In addition to working with plant staff, this position will engage with various levels of management and outside resources. 


  • Assist in the development, administration and of Capital Authorization Requests in the printing/cutting area.  Development tasks include preparing technical and performance data necessary to support business case development. Administrative aspects include spend tracking, asset creation and disposition.
  • As directed, assist in the installation and start-up of printing/cutting capex projects. Tasks to include soliciting installation bids, on-site installation support, equipment start up support, and training. 
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of long-term asset maintenance and annual capital budgets for printing and cutting equipment and systems. 
  • Provide plants with technical support and assistance during troubleshooting events. Be able to schedule and deploy external resources and assist as needed to diagnose and resolve printing and cutting related problems and improvement needs.
  • Periodically audit, evaluate, and assist the plants with training programs to achieve maximum operational efficiency on the printing/cutting lines, including transfer and implementation of best practice. 
  • Maintain and update Pactiv Paper printing and cutting capacity equipment inventory and asset listing.
  • Responsible for obtaining, developing and maintaining all applicable technical documentation including drawings, manuals and procedures for printing/die cutting related systems.

  • BA/BS degree preferred, in engineering
  • Paperboard platen and rotary die cutting experience
  • Gravure experience (desirable)
  • Flexographic experience required
  • Working knowledge of registration systems
  • Must be able and willing to travel 70%+
  • Possess excellent project problem solving skills
  • Good communicator
  • Self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision
  • SAP knowledge
