Material Analyst

Summary Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Procurement, the Material Analyst role is part of the procurement team responsible for supplier relationships & supplier development, material management and inventory control, purchase order execution, ERP/MRP operation and all things generally procurement with assigned suppliers & partners. This role will lead execution activities with assigned external parties, and ensuring alignment of daily and monthly tasks to overall strategic objectives as defined by Procurement, Brewing Operations and Pabst executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and drive prioritized focus on Safety, Quality, Productivity & Financial Performance for project execution and operational business objectives
  • Provide daily / weekly / monthly update reports to colleagues and Brewing Operations leadership team with effective verbal and written communications
  • Identify issues with buyer activities and projects before they arise and implement preventative measures
  • Develop & manage relationships, capabilities & deliverables with raw material suppliers as well as with contract brewing & packaging partners
  • Utilize creativity and innovation in approach toward day to day execution and continuous improvement, with key focus on tracking & reporting and communication transparency
  • Establishes key metrics and develop / implement plans to achieve initiative targets & business objectives
  • Partner closely with Buyers and Production/Technical team to ensure all raw material supplier activities are consistent and aligned with defined strategies for each partner for both innovation and normal business operations
  • Owner of raw material inventory positions and monthly reconciliation process for assigned materials, suppliers, warehouses and partner operation, ensuring optimized position to support production requirements while minimizing working capital requirements
  • Prioritized focus on leading all procurement efforts related to but not limited to … Miller-Coors packaging materials including both sustaining and innovation / graphic changes, all secondary & tertiary packaging suppliers for all non-Miller-Coors partners, lease keg supplier management
  • Owner of asset management process for all Pabst owned assets
  • Management of any 3rd party suppliers used / required for re-pack of packaging materials
  • Management of inventory @ 3rd party warehouses and relationship management of said warehouses used to inventory any raw materials assigned to this position
  • Operate daily within ERP system to manage all required data and inventory related to procurement and material responsibilities, ensuring timely and accurate updates
  • Monitor expenditures and resources to fulfill project / initiative requirements
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (brewing operations processes preferred) and specific impacts to the procurement process beneficial
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to develop subject matter expertise in materials and their related industry that will be managed in this role
  • Experience driving procurement activities with suppliers using basic or advanced procurement systems; experience working in ERP system with MRP operation highly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, highly focused on providing a structured, systematic approach to delivering data-driven solutions
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships, develop business plans, focus on goals & objectives and displays sense of urgency with bias towards delivering results
  • Effectively operate in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, management, critical thinking and technical problem solving skills; demonstrated performance in negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple projects and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and present to both internal and external audiences

  • Computer proficiency required, including experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP / MRP systems beneficial

  • Understands Lean principles with a focus on processes

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred;
  • 5+ years' business work experience, majority preferably in production / manufacturing organization and / or facility
  • 2+ years operating in a procurement / buyer type role
  • Previous work in beverage / CPG industry desired; brewery experience beneficial
  • Professional certifications in supply chain management or procurement or similar from organizations such as APICS, ACPOP, IFPSM, etc. beneficial
  • Six Sigma belt certifications helpful
