Head of Merchandising

The Head of Merchandising will be responsible for developing and executing the overall merchandising strategy for all products across all channels of distribution. The individual will work closely with design, marketing, production and planning to develop compelling product strategies to support business growth across all our channels and build a best in class merchandising organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Global Merchandising to develop product assortments for the brand and build long term business strategies
  • Develop, communicate and drive seasonal business strategies that meet or exceed financial goals and customer expectations
  • Work cross-functionally with design, marketing, and production to create a long-term, sustainable product strategy with an eye towards leading from a fashion perspective while being commercially viable
  • Demonstrate an impeccable taste level and serve as a brand champion and role model for OV
  • Drive product creation and successfully differentiate OV from its competition
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the customer and identify opportunities for new product by following consumer behavior patterns, aspirations, and influences
  • In partnership with the CEO, identify and incorporate relevant trends into the product offering in a brand-appropriate and enhancing way while translating her creative vision
  • Own and be accountable for the Gross Margin, the line plan, and fiscal budget; meet the short-term and long-term financial objectives of the brand and maximize profitability
  • Collaborate with all members of the cross-functional team to ensure that innovative ideas are surfaced and acted upon and that the team feels ownership in the business
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising to ensure assortment and feel of  the store is consistent with merchandising direction
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure that brand storytelling drives customer traffic and is consistent
  • Build and lead the merchandising organization needed to deliver against brand and business goals and drive for results

Qualifications

  • Global merchandising experience in either men’s or women’s product. Vertical retailer experience is mandatory. Performance apparel experience a plus
  • A demonstrated track-record of successfully growing businesses by developing and executing aggressive merchandise plans with trend-right product for the customer across multiple categories and channels
  • A strong blend of business/analytical proficiencies and creative merchandising skills (balance of left and right brain)
  • Appreciation for the creative process/environment; proven experience in building line plans, driving product assortments and partnering effectively with design to conceive product concepts that drive business
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate a vision and then inspire and motivate others into action; a demonstrated track-record of successfully building and aligning teams
  • Collaborative leadership style and strong cross-functional partnership abilities
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate brand strategy and vision across all levels of an organization
