Outbrain is seeking a highly-motivated and passionate Senior Business Development Director, Publishers to
grow our Japanese publisher business, taking on the responsibility of finding new business opportunities and
building long-term relationships with our partners.
Candidates should be energetic self-starters with 8+ years business development experience in digital
advertising, with established publisher relationships, a deep understanding of programmatic and video

A day in the life
- Establish long-term profitable business relationships with our publishers in Japan
- Team up with the Account Management Team to deliver the best of our monetisation and recommendation solutions to our premium publishers
- Find new growth opportunities, close deals with new publishers and app developers
- Forecast our growth and identify our needs, working closely with our Finance Team
- Negotiate complex distribution contracts with publishers, alongside our Legal team support
What you’ll bring
- Focus on “getting things done” in a fast-moving and very challenging publisher environment
- Ability to collaborate with other Outbrain departments (Account Management, Finance, Legal, Marketing) to achieve your goals
- A comprehensive understanding of Japan publishing industry with a deep and established network of senior contacts
- A strong ability to juggle with numbers, forecasts, reporting and legal aspects of the role
- Modeling and forecasting expertise with an interest in understanding contracts and numbers in detail
- Experience in structuring and negotiating deals for a digital company or deals where an online component and revenue were central
- Strong experience in identifying trends in data and in generated reports
- Solid understanding of digital technologies/site monetization and ability to explain product benefits in detail (programmatic and video experience is a plus)
- Outstanding interpersonal, presentation and sales skills. Excellent relationship building abilities and experience in contract negotiations
- Fluent in English and Japanese
