Real Time Bidding Team Lead
Outbrain is establishing a new team which will be responsible for building its extended network. The extended network will buying native inventory from all significant native inventory SSPs, whether directly via RTB/API interfaces or through Exchanges/DSP’s. This exciting new service will help marketers around the world to distribute their content beyond the Outbrain direct network to maximize their investment without additional effort. We are looking for a hands-on Team Leader who’s ready to accept the challenges of working in an extremely agile environment, using Scrum methodology, and is ready to lead a new team that writes code from scratch while using today’s leading technologies.
Responsibilities and Activities
BUILDING THE TEAM
As the owner of the extended real time bidding dev team, the person assuming this role will have to recruit and build his team, a strategic new team within Outbrain. From defining the profiles of the team to recruit, taking the lead on the recruits and working closely with HR. The team will be part of the Outbrain large R&D reporting to the Amplify products group lead and with a dotted line to the business owner of the extended network.
ENGINEERING THE MACHINE
Responsible for building Outbrain’s REAL TIME BIDDING ENGINE. A machine learning, autopilot, native inventory algo-trading engine.
End to end ownership from defining the architecture, design & choice of tech to use throughout implementation and launch. An engine which will have to process and respond in real-time (milliseconds) to billions of events per day, while running real-time calculations to predict results, manage risk and generate revenues and profit at scale. You will have full access to a vast infrastructure already built by Outbrain great team and minds.
ABILITY TO PERFORM IN A MULTIFACETED ROLE
Comfortable in a role that requires a breadth of experience and skillsets. Will be working with teams of a variety of functions. Holds strong engineering, architecture, and team management skills.

ESSENTIAL TECH SKILLS
- At least 2 years of team/tech lead experience
- At least 5 years of software development experience
- Experience with cloud computing environment (google/amazon)
- Strong coding skills in Java on Linux
- Experience working with Apache, Kafka & Spark
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous architectures
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent
- Experience in developing software solutions for the ad tech industry
- Experience in programmatically interfacing with Google/DoubleClick/Yahoo/Twitter/Facebook APIs for Ads
- Knowledge with NoSql databases a big plus
- Experience with Scala and Node.js
- Experience with memcached, redis, aerospike, async programming
WORKING IN INTERNATIONAL TEAM ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL
Role might require travel from time to time to work with other remote team members internationally, hence full professional proficiency is required (speaking, reading & writing).
