  • Driving Professional Development – The Organizational Development & People Specialist will assess people-related needs across the country program, develop a prioritized project pipeline and execute on high-impact staff development initiatives. For example, s/he will identify common areas for professional development, and then create/source and ensure the dissemination of relevant all-staff trainings and learning opportunities. S/he will also ensure that managers are evaluating employees in a timely and consistent manner and following up on evaluations with the creation and implementation of professional development plans.
  • Leadership Development Program (LDP) Management – The LDP is a global training and mentorship program designed to accelerate the growth of high-potential National staff into organizational leaders and managers. The Organizational Development & People Specialist will work with the Global LDP Lead to tailor the LDP course to the Ethiopia context, teach it, evaluate participant progress and develop mentorship opportunities for participants in the program.
  • Strategic Team Building – The Organizational Development & People Specialist will approach team building from two strategic angles: (1) attracting and screening top Ethiopian candidates for positions at One Acre Fund, and (2) making One Acre Fund one of the best places to work in Ethiopia through driving initiatives to create a positive and integrated workplace for our teams.
  • HR Administration – The Organizational Development & People Specialist will develop HR systems to manage our employee life cycle from start to finish and addressing issues as they arise. S/he will manage the contracts, onboarding, benefits and salaries of our growing staff through an entry-level administrative officer.

Qualifications

We are seeking one exceptional professional with 5+ year(s) of work experience and ideally a demonstrated passion for organizational/staff development and leadership. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Strong work experiences, including team management, project management, capacity building and/or entrepreneurial experiences. Candidates with a background in organizational development, leadership training or human resources are preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at work or outside of work. Examples include managing a department, driving change initiatives, leading a conference, designing and facilitating trainings, or launching a professional development program.
  • Strong undergraduate background at top East African university or international university. Please include your GPA on your CV.
  • We are looking for passionate professionals who combine strong leadership skills with intelligence, maturity, patience, and a humble approach to service to join our growing family of leaders.
  • A willingness to live in Bahir Dar for at least six months. It is important that the Organizational Development & People Specialist understands the culture and capacities of our program staff.

Compensation

We offer a modest starting salary that affords a high quality of life in our areas of operation. This is a career-track role with performance-based raises and the ability to expand responsibilities over time.
