Senior Strategic Planner

Overview

Ogilvy is currently seeking a Senior Planner to join our Health and Wellness team. The Senior Planner leverages industry knowledge to provide key insights and strategic recommendations for positioning a client's business/products. The Senior Planner will collaborate with the client and other Ogilvy staff to develop positioning and messaging strategies, as well as strategic and tactical marketing communications contact plans. Also, this position will be responsible for providing input throughout the creative development process to ensure all client deliverables are "on strategy". The Sr. Planner will help define key performance indicators and measurement for programs Ogilvy delivers to ensure that strategies and tactics deliver against client goals and objectives and provide expected returns. The Senior Planner will also monitor the success of the programs to demonstrate customer value as well as to ensure that the strategy adapts to important client and market changes.

Responsibilities

  • Learning, internalizing, using, teaching and sharing Ogilvy's strategic tool set
  • Acting as the planning point of contact for a multi-million dollar client
  • Understanding the client's business needs, and how our strategies will deliver on their objectives and KPIs
  • Developing fresh insights about the attitudes, needs, behaviors and relationships of all stakeholders
  • Uncovering and interpreting relevant cultural and social trends
  • Assessing competitive strategies & uncovering white space opportunities
  • Developing and delivering the brand strategy, from vision and essence to positioning and messaging architecture
  • Partnering with creative teams to ensure that creative transports the strategic objective
  • Evaluating and contributing to channel and tactical plans to ensure that the strategic intent of the positioning is achieved
  • Working closely with analytics to develop relevant KPIs
  • Leading/coordinating with client MRD on learning/research plans

Skill Set:

  • A demonstrated ability to think out of the box and provide fresh solutions to business issues, as well as the analytical capability and objectivity to develop evidence-based conclusions
  • Ability to:
  • Quickly gather, absorb, synthesize and report on large, diverse data sets (qual and quant)
  • Develop/evaluate actionable qual/quant research plans
  • Integrate qual & quant learning to develop brand and communications strategies
  • Partner effectively with both clients and agency team members, including account, creative, medical, digital/channel planning, analytics, media and more
  • Evaluate creative through a strategic lens, and deliver those evaluations constructively and helpfully
  • Visualize strategic thought in evocative and expressive presentations, , delivered with confidence and authority
  • Develop, run and move results forward on rockstar workshops
  • Confident in respectfully challenging the client (and internal team) on insights

Qualifications

  • 5- 10 years planning experience at an advertising agency (consumer experience preferred)
  • Healthcare experience required (Rx preferred)
  • Launch experience preferred
  • Experience in new business
