Senior Account Executive, Healthcare

Role Overview:

Ogilvy Public Relations is currently looking for a Mid-level communications professional with professional job experience capable of handling a broad range of projects with a high degree of independence and sound judgment. Our SAE will posess the ability and experience to play a primary, independent implementation role in client work.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Account management: Maintain day-to-day contact with the client; ensure timely delivery of projects; oversee daily monitoring including editing daily report; manage specific projects that are part of a larger campaign; develop programming with senior account team; supervisor more junior staff to ensure they have a balanced workload and the information they need to complete tasks on deadline
  • Project implementation: Manages the implementation of PR plan, including press conferences, media briefings, analyst meetings, media tours, third-party advocacy programs, b-roll shoot
  • Media outreach: Pitch trade and consumer reporters; develop relationships with reporters; develop media pitch; contribute to the design of and execute media relations campaigns
  • Editorial: Draft PR materials, including press releases, backgrounders, pitch letters and other documents; edit writing of junior-level staffers; oversee referencing, assist as needed
  • Finance: Oversee the preparation of monthly team activity reports; develop and maintain financial trackers for projects; develop budgets for programs with minimal supervision; ensure vendors are paid on a timely manner
  • Business development: Assist with new business development, including taking an active role as part of the development/pitch team; attend brainstorms; gather and organize information, and assist with program development, as requested
  • Research: Help with research, including Internet searches, third-party audits, media audits, identification of KOLs; evaluates and analyzes information and data, including development of succinct, accurate summaries and analyses of research

Requirements:

  • Proficient in writing, media, research and production skills
  • Skilled in handling direct client contact
  • Demonstrating program development and presentation skills
  • Ability to counsel clients
  • Skilled at conceptualizing and producing programs
  • Proactively works to increase presentation skills, especially when speaking with the client and at team meetings
  • Able to garner media placements/interviews supporting client objectives
  • Understands the programs objectives and strategies, can explain outcomes of all major clinical trials and studies pertaining to the brand, has a thorough understanding of the brand’s competitive landscape
  • Able to develop first drafts of documents and presentations with minimal edits
  • Experienced at running at least two events (media briefing, medical meeting logistics, b-roll shoot)
  • Continues to build and apply specialized expertise in particular subject or functional areas; has developed at least one area of expertise in the healthcare arena – e.g., writing, media outreach, data communications, consumer program development, digital communications
  • Develops budgets independently and/or in conjunction with other team members
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying and proposing enhanced ways to advance team, group, agency and client interests
  • Operates with a high degree of independence, but knows when to rely on own judgment and when to seek advice of supervisor and other team members
  • Applies sound judgment in anticipating and taking action to avoid many workplace and client issues and problems
  • Demonstrates proficiency in managing agency and client resources: people, time and money
