FKH - Vice President - B2B Life Sciences

Position Overview:

The Vice President will provide day-to-day management of marketing communications and public relations activities for several clients. FKH represents a diverse array of clients and supports them in a wide variety of activities ranging from communications strategy development, messaging, branding, financial communications, crisis communications, internal communications, advocacy communications, etc.This individual will join a team working for clients which primarily include life sciences tools and technology companies focused on business to business communications. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple assignments and clients with a high degree of success and independence. S/he will also enjoy working in a smart, dynamic, entrepreneurial, client-focused, team-oriented environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day interface with selected clients in partnership with the SVP, Marketing Communications
  • Day-to-day account management and execution of tactics for selected client projects including:
  • Development of press releases, media alerts, backgrounders, web and other content
  • Advertising, direct and e-mail campaigns
  • Conferences, seminars and other events
  • Management of webinar and podcast projects (development of podcast scripts as needed)
  • Management of projects progressing through creative; coordination of proofing/review of projects
  • Management of web and social media activities as appropriate for client engagements.
  • Develop, guide and implement media relations strategies and programs for client visibility including establishing and maintaining positive and ongoing relationships with a wide range of journalists (newspaper, magazine, trade, broadcast) in a wide range of fields (health information technology (IT), genomics, life sciences tools/technology, healthcare, etc.)

§ Be a key contributor in developing and executing business development activities with the support of the SVP and in collaboration with other senior level executives at Feinstein Kean Healthcare

  • Participate in initial engagements/strategy development with clients including positioning, message development and communications plan development
  • Manage client teams

§ Lead and/or support thought leadership initiatives for the firm as necessary

§ Manage account teams to ensure that activities are on strategy and that client needs are met on-time and on budget

§ Develop and manage budgets.

§ Play an active role in the development of junior staff through project assignments, guiding training programs, mentoring, etc.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Must Haves, and Experience of the “A” Player:

§ Minimum of 8+ years experience in business to business (B2B) marketing communications for health information technology (IT), genomics, life sciences tools/technology, and/or healthcare organizations

§ Knowledge/ of the media landscape within the industry, including existing relationships with relevant outlets and reporters in health information technology (IT), genomics, life sciences tools/technology, and/or healthcare

§ Demonstrated track record of implementing media relations campaigns that resulted in placement of high quality news stories.

§ Experience in the management of client relationships

§ Experience in developing and executing successful business development initiatives

§ Thorough understanding of life sciences industry/drug discovery and development process

§ Familiarity with life sciences trade publications and conferences

§ Strong writing and editing skills

§ Experience in dealing with scientific oriented clients

Education (degrees, technical training, etc.):

§ Bachelor’s degree required (life science degree preferred)

§ Advanced degree a plus (MS, MBA, PhD)

Technical Expertise (systems, sciences, technologies, etc.):

§ Facile with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

§ Websites and digital communications including Web 2.0 experience a plus

Work Conditions (Travel requirements, etc.):

§ 10-15% travel
