Associate Director, Marketing Analytics


The Associate Director will be responsible for all phases of a marketing analytics engagement including scoping of projects, execution of analysis, management of projects and presentation of results.

Duties include evaluating success of campaign objectives, benchmarking, providing possible root causes and making strategic recommendations for optimization/ improvement.

The Associate Director will be expected to project manage and mentor junior staff through all phases of analytical production.

Additionally, the Associate Director will interact directly with clients and represent Ogilvy's analytic practice by providing intelligent, quantitatively-derived insights and recommendations.


Role Overview:

The Associate Director will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Statistical Analysis – Campaign inception, performance measurement and optimization
  • Advanced analytics – Segmentation, Predictive modeling, Forecasting
  • Client needs assessment and scoping, planning of projects and management of outputs
  • Directly responsible for all outputs (reporting, analyses, dashboards, models, etc)
  • Designs and interprets A/B and multivariate optimization tests
  • Acts as trusted advisor to mid-level clients
  • Manages Analysts and Consultants
  • Market the capabilities of the team to internal agency staff



  • Responsible for data mining of customer data
  • Building of segmentation, predictive models representing customer behavior
  • Data manipulation and transformation
  • Business case development and opportunity sizing
  • Development of test and measurement plan
  • Analysis of campaign performance and customer behavioral changes

Client Relations:

  • Plans and directs the analysis of the client's strategic agenda
  • Gains client's trust as a valued marketing expert
  • Builds counseling relationships with mid-level members of the client team
  • Relates well to people at all levels (junior, peer and senior) within the organization
  • Constantly monitors and manages client's expectations

Communications Skills:

  • Leads development of presentation logic and flow for entire document
  • Independently writes well structure and persuasive end products
  • Communicates good ideas frequently and effectively in most settings
  • Clarifies and summarizes various inputs from broader team
  • Confidently delivers presentations

Project Management

  • Manages, scopes and plans projects with realistic goals, resources, actions and dates
  • Understands how to divide and combine tasks into efficient workflow
  • Anticipates potential project management risks and escalates to management

  • Proactively identify and lead small incremental engagement with existing clients
  • Contributor to creating new tools for the discipline
  • Strives to evolve specialty expertise by recommending ideas to improve the overall growth of the group

People Management

  • Helps junior team members gain a better understanding of the discipline's tools
  • Manages one or more junior team members



  • 7+ years experience in marketing analytics, multivariate modeling, segmentation, quantitative methods, database and digital data
  • Educational background in quantitative field
  • Masters degree preferred

Technical Skills

  • Experience with regression and multivariate techniques
  • Segmentation and predictive modeling
  • Statistics, A/B testing, multivariate testing
  • SAS or SPSS
  • Web Analytics Tools (Google analytics, Omniture etc)
