Associate Director, Engagement Planning

  • Develop and lead engagement strategies and plans that will drive revenue through deepening the customer's engagement with the brand.
  • Collaborate with creative teams and co-create engagement ideas from conceptualization to execution.
  • Design and implementation of research projects to address client business issues, and gain insight into target audiences.
  • Develop personas, customer journeys, and channel engagement plans to guide strategic and ideation sessions with clients and with different agency departments.
  • Write multi-channel creative briefs that will inform cross channel creative exploration, execution and measurement.
  • Lead brainstorms session with cross-functional teams as necessary to ensure we are bringing the best thinking to key initiatives.
  • Manage Planners, Associate Planners, Ogilvy Associates and interns who are assigned to the Associate Director's accounts. Provide professional development opportunities and on the job training as needed.


  • 7-8 years of experience in strategic planning at a digital or integrated communications agency (CRM experience a plus).
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Previous experience at integrated agencies working with integrated accounts preferred (Travel, Hospitality, and Loyalty experience an advantage).
  • Ability to work directly with clients and build relationships that provide a deep understanding of their business and goals.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to lead large teams in brainstorming sessions.
  • Strong command of most forms of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and working knowledge of when and how to apply them to a given client challenge.
  • Creative mind and ability to inspire and instigate ideation across disciplines and departments.
  • Insatiable creativity, demonstrating talent for abstract thinking, spotting trends and patterns, an innate curiosity and insight into human behavior, an instinct for popular culture, and a nuanced understanding of creative work are critical.
  • The ability to work across different engagement groups and disciplines is key to their success: Digital, Social, CRM, Mobile, Media, Content and Analytics, to drive integrated engagement platforms.
  • Understand creativity and its role to customer engagement – strategically and tactically
  • Experience developing building acquisition, cross sell, retention, and loyalty programs across a variety of engagements, channels, and industries.
  • Able to manage people as well as complex processes and environments.
