Collibra Data Governance Centre implementation support

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Collibra Data Governance Centre implementation support (c.3FTE for 2-3 months):

Introduction
Collibra v5.6 was successfully implemented and all data migrated over to the new platform in August 2019. This covered (amongst many features) an updated meta model and streamlined governance processes and associated workflows. However, this key milestone can only be considered as a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) release - it ideally positions HClient to take advantage of new Collibra functionality and to address key internal audit findings. The later point is the primary focus for the phase 2 build out of Collibra.

Key Themes

  • Enhanced Content, Monitoring and reporting of governed content: To ensure the quality and completeness of published content, a set of post publication tools and associated reports / dashboards are required. These compliment initial governance workflows and will provide an extra level of transparency of governed content in Collibra and pre-empt adverse future audit findings. The following are required:
  • Checks on the degree of completeness of characteristics for governed content such as Data Elements and Preferred Business Terms - there are many optional characteristics for certain asset types, which while not mandatory for initial publication, add further depth and understand to a particular item of governed data.
  • Automation of running post publication validation rules - rules are dynamic and will evolve - something that was valid at point of publication may now require additional work to confirm to tighter rules
  • Duplication check tools based on "fuzzy" matching of names
  • Checks to ensure all published items are "linked" together appropriately - specific no orphaned content
  • Monitoring and reporting of content requiring periodic review
  • Contextualisation of Data: It is a key audit and governance requirement to be able to fully document the reasons as to why a particular item of data is deemed to be critical and the context in which this is critical. Context here can refer to a business process, country, Line of Business or regulatory requirement for example. To enable this functionality Collibra needs to be enhanced to:
  • Support data being associated with key business dimensions - process, models, lines of business, countries etc.
  • Develop and embed in business lines necessary approval processes to approve and manage assigned contexts
  • Improve the documentation and governance of who produces / consumes items of data
  • Enhanced User Experience: The strategic aim is to make Collibra the tool of choice not just for core data governance users, but for a vastly wider HClient audience. To facilitate this, Collibra needs to be intuitive to use for non "Power users" - this requires the development of the following:
  • Simplified landing pages and dashboards
  • Pre-canned filters and views presenting content in a simplified fashion and only the appropriate content for that user
  • The use of "self-service" workflows for simple tasks which are intuitive and obvious to use
  • Integrations: Collibra consumes meta data from other HClient repositories and also provides meta data into other business line tooling. The methods used for these integrations currently do not utilise the available integration components in Coillibra - specifically Collibra connect. Further, there are a number of use cases of integrations being implemented using the Collibra API. Strategically the following is required:

From the above, items 1,2,3 should be taken as a single work package and will be the initial focus. Item 4 can be considered separately.
