The Vice President/Medical Unit Head is responsible for leading the Medical Unit team and developing, implementing, guiding and communicating Novartis' Clinical Development & Medical Affairs strategy and activities for the evolving Therapeutic Area franchise while supporting the Inspired, Unbossed, and curious culture aspiration.
Your responsibilities will include:
•Drive overall medical Franchise or Functional strategy in line with respective Global, Regional and Country business needs
•Ensure high quality and fit-for-purpose activities aligned with global, region or country strategy (e.g. co-chair franchise ISRC meetings with GDD TA Head)
•Excellence in allocation of resources, operational execution and financial tracking to ensure timely and cost-effective development & execution of medical activities.
•Ensure appropriate competencies, effective talent management as well as organizational culture & structures are in place to execute the global, region or country Medical strategy
•Excellence in collaboration with other functions e.g. Market Access, GDD and Commercial to achieve company goals
•Partner with external stakeholders to co -create value, including trustful relationship with key Medical Experts and patient associations.

•Bachelors or equivalent 4-Year University Degree required. Doctorate level degree (MD, PharmD, DO, or PhD in Health Sciences or related field) required.
•12 years' experience in progressively senior roles within clinical development and/or medical affairs roles in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry or academic institution/clinical practice.
•5 years' prior People management/team leadership experience is preferred.
•Strong knowledge of Ophthalmology.
•Clinical research experience - including concept and protocol development - conducted in a pharmaceutical or equivalent environment is strongly preferred.
•Solid understanding of clinical trial operations and experience driving patient recruitment solutions, is strongly preferred.
•Strong understanding of US Healthcare landscape including payer environment, key trends, etc.
•Strong understanding of Health Economics and Outcomes research methods and connection to payer needs. Familiarity with Real World Evidence and Population Health concepts and application in therapeutic area.
