Job Description

The AD, Commercial Analyst, embedded within the cardiovascular function, will proactively bring insights to the business to support strategic business decisions. The AD, Commercial Analyst will need both franchise/function knowledge and analytics expertise to support the synthesis of analytics, reporting, and research to provide meaningful insights to franchise management. In addition, the Commercial Analyst will have the data science skills to support ad-hoc requests from franchise/function managers.

Each AD, Commercial Analyst will be responsible for the following:
• Analyzing and interpreting data to monitor and providing feedback on brand-ing performance, salesforce effectiveness, and portfolio strength; leveraging advanced dashboards to investigate and monitor the drivers behind performance

• Developing and delivering P/L attribution & variance root cause analysis
• Executing brand opportunity and threat analysis
• Prioritizing analytic development and determining insights data/information requirements to align with franchise strategy
• Performing ongoing assessments and synthesizing research on the therapeutic area landscape to keep a pulse on the market

Major accountabilities & key activities
Leadership
• Supports the Commercial Acceleration Head in synthesizing analytics, reporting, and re-search to deliver insights to franchise management
• Communicates business critical information to franchise/function Commercial Acceleration Head
• Provides creative solutions to complex issues
• Partners with business teams in goal-setting, strategy development, and performance measurement
Operational
• Develops data requirements for the Analytics team to use for analysis of franchise/function reports
• Forms initial hypotheses to drive types of analysis requested from Analytics leads, often through interviews with brand personnel and initial research
• Interprets and delivers data for actionable insights and outputs that meet the needs of the franchise/function
• Translates information provided by the Solutions and Data and Platforms Groups to present business scenarios and cases for the franchise/function and the implications to the success of the brand(s)
• Engages with franchise/function leaders to identify and prioritize areas for analytic development to address unmet business needs and new opportunities
• Performs ad hoc analyses to validate, support, and synthesize the outputs of the Solutions group
• Applies franchise/function subject matter expertise to data provided by CA org colleagues to fine tune (re)investments and recommendations for business decisions within the franchise/function
People
• Works well cross-functionally across the organization
• Builds strong, cross-functional relationships to leverage Novartis' expertise to accomplish business goals and customer objectives
• Develops a deep understanding of the franchise/function's needs and represents them clearly to the Solutions and Data and Platforms Groups

This opportunity is located at the Novartis East Hanover (NJ) site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation assistance may be available.

Minimum Requirements

Experience Requirements (Core Skills and Capabilities):
• BS in STEM major and a minimum of 3 years of experience working on analytical projects, and 1 year of Life Sciences / Healthcare experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Life Sciences Industry with 1 or more years in data analytics/metrics, process improvement or other similar analytical role
• MBA or Master's degree in statistics, business analytics or quantitative field desired
• Demonstrated experience analyzing complex situations and processes and effectively integrating and synthesizing the data (physician, patient) to form a complete cohesive picture and actionable in-sights
• Comfort with telling stories with data
• Proven self-starter with high standards of excellence and an innovative mind
• Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
• Project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
• Excels at interacting with a diverse group of people, all levels of management, including senior leadership
• Solid understanding of database structures, data wrangling, cleansing, and manipulation in Excel, SQL, SAS, Alteryx, and ideally R or python

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $158,400 and $237,600/per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
