Associate Director (AD), Commercial Analytics is a key member of the IM US DIA teams. In partnership with brand marketing, sales leadership, market research, advanced analytics & forecasting, finance, and other key stakeholders, the AD is responsible for using expert analytics to provide meaningful market insights that enable effective, data driven decision-making specific to a brand. This position requires a hands-on analytics expertise and the ability to understand the detail of disease portfolio and/or an individual brand, its market dynamics and translate them into actionable insights. The AD will partner with a variety of stakeholders (insight market research, digital project managers, brand marketing, product management, sales, advanced analytics & forecasting, finance) to build business insights and assure the validity and quality of the analyses. The AD must demonstrate autonomy and work independently in close partnership with a team of peers and stakeholders.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Support the Director of Integrated Insights Analytics with the specification and execution of analytical projects for a disease portfolio and/or an individual brand.
o Identify and execute analytics that uncover business opportunities for the brands.
• Play an instrumental role in developing comprehensive analytics to address issues pertaining to our customers: patients, physicians, and payers.
• Be proactive in analytics and lead analytics initiatives.
• Lead forward-looking/predictive analytics as well as track brand performance with retrospective projects
• Contribute to the transformation of digital & omni-channel analytics
o Serve as a liaison between analysts, digital agencies and leadership.
• Help with bringing analytics expertise in-house.
o Help to develop deep analytics expertise working with junior team members and show examples of great analytics.
o Be hands on. Provide real-time analytics support to franchise leadership and be able to answer their questions in a real time.
• Set Performance Expectations for brands
o Create demand-based/patient-driven brand forecasts in coordination with finance, forecasting team and brand teams that incorporate key elements of net sales such as inventory, SP purchasing trends, etc.
o Support development of annual Brand Planning - Situation Analysis, Forecast, Stakeholder Insights, Key Business Questions, Monthly and/or Weekly Performance Monitoring Plans and trackers
o Develop HCP targeting, ensuring compliance with all relevant Novartis policies including appropriate documentation of the specialty inclusion/exclusion process
• Monitor Performance to understand & impact market dynamics
o Assist in the identification of sub-national analytics
opportunities to improve brand performance. Work closely with Sales Operations and Multi-channel/NPP marketing.
o Analyze performance data and market trends against forecasted expectations
o Integrate analytics from across the organization, including payer, digital, cross-channel, and others
o Synthesize multiple analyses and data sources to identify patterns, trends, root causes, opportunities and threats
o Partner with Market Research team to deliver insights-driven, strategic recommendations to the brand/s that correspond to opportunities and challenges
• Accelerate Automation presence within analytics and brands
o Partner with visualization and data teams to contribute to the design and enhancement of the KPIs for commercial.
o Drive and leverage self service capabilities and automated offerings (including data and visualization, forecasting etc...) that enhances the analytical tracking for brands.
• Communicate data & insights-driven strategies to impact business
o Streamline analytics to create the brand "story" that explains the "what" & the "why"
o Provide clear & concise recommendations driven by data and insights to provide the "so what"
o Produce and deliver senior leadership-level presentations working very closely with the team lead

Minimum Requirements

What will you bring to the role
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required; an advanced degree in quantitative subject (e.g. statistics, economics, science or mathematics) is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of marketing-related analytic experience is required, experience or interest in data science.
• Previous Therapeutic Area experience or pharmaceutical industry experience is strongly desirable.
• knowledge of machine learning concepts as well as statistical analysis techniques (Supervised & unsupervised learning, regression & classification, e.g. linear/logistic regression, cluster analysis, significance testing, factor analysis, ANCOVA) is preferred
• Deep understanding of pharmaceutical sales, marketing data sets is required. Prior experience in medical claims data sets a plus, as is prior marketing research experience
• Familiarity with marketing analytics or a decision sciences function and experience with advanced quantitative methods (e.g. segmentation, predictive modeling)
• Experience with statistical computing and data manipulation is a plus. (i.e. R, Python, SAS, Excel, VBA, Alteryx, SQL)

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and strategic thinking, must possess excellent communication and presentation skills with the proven record of effective translation of complex analysis to business solutions, strong project management experience, and the ability to synthesize & simplify input from multiple stakeholders in order to provide recommendations that can impact business. S/he must excel in problem-solving, be curious, possess the will to win, and must demonstrate innovative thinking in a matrix organization.

The AD must demonstrate autonomy in the ability to code and transform data independently. This role, while working as part of a team of analysts, must also demonstrate the ability to work independently with a proactive approach to meet business needs and deadlines

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $158,400 and $237,600/per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
