799 million. That's how many lives our products touched in 2019. And while we're proud of that fact, in this world of digital and technological transformation, we must also ask ourselves this: how can we continue to improve and extend even more people's lives?
We believe the answers are found when curious, courageous and collaborative people like you are brought together in an inspiring environment. Where you're given opportunities to explore the power of digital and data. Where you're empowered to risk failure by taking smart risks, and where you're surrounded by people who share your determination to tackle the world's toughest medical challenges.
This role will help drive the development and execution of Novartis' ambition to leverage advanced visual analytics to elevate decision-making across the organization. This ambition is one of key pillars in the broader digital transformation happening at Novartis to be a 'medicines and data science company.' This user- and data-centric role will conduct research into the usage of analytics (such as machine learning models) across many use cases and generate insights into the use of visualization to empower subject matter experts to act as data scientists.
Conduct user interviews across multiple data-centric applications, analyze results and generate task taxonomies. Review and present literature on methods for AI explainabiility to product owners. Develop visualization recommendations and prototypes of advanced visual analytics techniques to address gaps in user needs and current capabilities. Work day to day with both application users and key stakeholders gaining experience in requirements gathering and user validation.
The business impact of having a visual analytics summer intern in the DSAI Group would be multi fold. This intern would enable us to analyze and audit our own effectiveness with users across applications. We don't have capacity to do this now because all of our resources are dedicated to rapid development of products. The outcome of this project will give us a better portrait of our users, and give us a tailored solution for making our analytics more useful and actionable. This type of analysis also does not exist in the literature, so we have potential to publish the results and gain prestige within the visual analytics community and among data-driven organizations. It will also be an invaluable opportunity for the intern to get more applied experience working with users
