Test Manager

Astro Aerospace, a Strategic Business Unit of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, is currently in search of a Test Manager to support our Engineering group in our Carpinteria, CA facilities. Astro is the industry leader in space deployable systems, and since 1958, has enabled complex missions to Earth orbit, Mars and beyond with innovative deployable space structures and mechanisms. Our products have been successfully deployed on hundreds of space missions with 100% success in space.

The Test Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions of mechanical space hardware that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing mechanical space hardware systems.
  • Coordinates integrated test activities for functional, load, vibration and thermal/thermal-vacuum testing.
  • Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of test program.
  • Performs technical analysis of complete mechanical space hardware systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least eight (8) years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
