Systems Reliability Engineer/ Principal Systems Reliability Engineer

The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) Department at Northrop Grumman Undersea Systems located in Annapolis, MD is seeking a system reliability engineer. The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to deliver complex mechanical, electrical, and/or optical systems for use in the subsea / maritime environment. We are looking for an individual with reliability experience at any skill level (junior to most senior). Please consider applying no matter your skill level.

In this position you will:

  • Apply reliability centered principles to help ensure the reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) of existing, new, and modified equipment
  • Conduct a variety of Reliability analyses including reliability modeling and predictions, trade studies, and Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Identify hardware reliability issues and collaborate to develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of vendor equipment;
  • Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria
  • Participate in the final check-out of new designs
  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact site operations
  • Provide inputs to and present current status/findings at major program milestone reviews and internal meetings

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications below.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Reliability Engineer are:

  • Have an interest in working in the maritime surface / undersea domain
  • BS degree in STEM field and 2+ years' of experience or MS degree in STEM field and 0+ years' of experience
  • Have a working knowledge of probability theory and reliability engineering activities
  • Must hold an active or current Top Secret/SCI and CI Polygraph

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Reliability Engineer are:
  • Have an interest in working in the maritime surface/ undersea domain
  • BS degree in STEM field and 5+ years' of experience, MS degree in STEM field and 3+ years' of experience, or PhD and 0+ years' of experience.
  • Have a working knowledge of probability theory and reliability engineering activities
  • Must hold an active or current Top Secret/ SCI and CI Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have experience in the design, production, or maintenance of mechanical, electrical, or optical systems
  • Have a working knowledge of statistical methods, component applications, and derating models, as well as be able to statistically analyze and interpret test data
  • Have experience with the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) Process
  • Have experience with Maritime / Underwater / Aerospace, or related domain hardware / software
  • Have experience with NG tools such as NX/TeamCenter/ISE/Talent+/Concur/SAP
